AUSTIN — Gainesville Fire Marshal J. J. “Jody” Henry was bestowed the Association’s Life Member Award at the annual Texas Fire Marshal Association banquet held during the 15th Annual Texas Fire Marshal’s Conference, October 21 – 25.
Life Membership is awarded to individuals who have been active in the Association and a member in good standing for ten or more years. Individuals must have rendered distinctive service to the association through participation on committees or other activities for a minimum of five years and who have maintained an exemplary professional image befitting the Texas Fire Marshal Association.
Henry became a member of the Texas Fire Marshals’ Association in 2003 and within two years began serving on committees. He chaired the Training, Outreach and Education Committee from 2005 to 2010 and remains as a member to present.
He was elected to the Board of Directors in 2006 as the 2nd Vice President, became the 1st Vice President in 2008 and served his two year stint as the President of the Association from 2010 to 2012. In 2008 and 2009 he chaired the Finance Committee and currently serves in the capacity of 1st Past President.
According to a news release, Henry is a leader in the profession, serving the City of Gainesville in the fire service for 34 years, 13 of them in fire prevention. He continues to be an active, dedicated member of the Texas Fire Marshal’s Association refusing to be just a name on the roster. It is with great pride that the Texas Fire Marshal’s Association presents J. J. “Jody Henry, the Life Member Award.
