Denton — Dr. Emily Klement, dean of the North Central Texas College campuses in Bowie and Graham, will be featured in an upcoming issue of UNT Research magazine.

The article will focus on the research and findings from her recent doctoral dissertation.

In the dissertation, Klement found that the presence of Hispanic faculty on community college campuses was the greatest factor of those she studied in determining whether Hispanic students will transfer to four-year universities.

In her research, Klement analyzed data from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board on 50 Texas community colleges. Her mentor was Beverly Bower — a professor of higher education, a Don A. Buchholz endowed chair and director of the Bill J. Priest Center for Community College Education at UNT.

Klement has been invited to present her research at Southwest Educational Research Association in San Antonio in February and also for the American Education Research Association in San Francisco in April.

Klement graduated from the University of North Texas in August with her doctorate in higher education.
