GIRLS HOOPS ROUNDUP: Wichita Falls Rider too much for Lady Leopards in home-opener

GAINESVILLE — Ariannah Kemp scored 14 points but it wouldn’t be enough as Gainesville fell to Wichita Falls Rider 64-42 in its home opener on Tuesday.

The Lady Leopards (1-2) were done in by 11 treys nailed by Wichita Falls Rider in the loss.

Chandler Kemp and Brittany Royal both scored seven points a piece for Gainesville. Kiarah Manuel scored six while Hali Smith and Zhanice Lane both had four points.

Gainesville will host Class 1A No. 5 state-ranked Muenster at 2 p.m. Saturday.

 

Valley View 46, S&S Consolidated 44

Lydia Zimmerer scored 17 points as Valley View snagged a 46-44 win over S&S Consolidated.

Erika Sappington had 10 points and five steals while Makayla Johnson added 10 points and four rebounds for the Lady Eagles (2-1). Lauren Bierschenk scored three points while Caly Wilson, Bailey Wilhite and Savanna Schneiderjan all had two points a piece.

Valley View will travel to play Saint Jo at 6 p.m. Monday.

 

Muenster 49, Saint Jo 16

Michelle Sicking and Lauren Rohmer both scored 10 points as Class 1A No. 5 state-ranked Muenster stormed past Saint Jo 49-16.

Cedy Burnett added nine points for the Lady Hornets (2-1). Amber Walterscheid and Kassie Dangelmayr both scored five points.

Muenster will travel to play Gainesville at 2 p.m. Saturday.

 

Sacred Heart 63, Whitesboro 38

Kaitlin Hesse had eight points and eight assists as Sacred Heart rolled past Whitesboro 63-38.

Danielle Berend scored nine points and had six steals for the Tigerettes. Bailey Walterscheid had eight points and eight rebounds, Karleigh Reeves scored 10 points and Michelle Zimmerer had 10 rebounds.

Sacred Heart will play in the Bethesda Tournament starting Thursday.
