Temple —
The Muenster Hornets offense was too much for the Hubbard
Jaguars in the area round of the state playoffs. Muenster defeated
Hubbard, 8-3 in game one and 17-2 in game two to win the best of three
series at Fort Worth Brewer High School and advance to the regional
quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
Muenster (24-5) jumped on Hubbard early in game two with seven first
inning runs, followed by seven more in the third inning. The Hornets
added three more in the fourth to put away the Jaguars in five innings
to decide the series.
Tyler Anderle picked up the win in game two while Trevor Hess finished
with three RBI’s.
In game one the Hornets had to battle from behind after being down 2-0
after the bottom of the first. Muenster battled back with six runs in
the third to take the lead for good. The Hornets would add one run in
the sixth and one more in the seventh for the deciding, 8-3 victory.
Blayne Stiles picked up the win for the Hornets.
Muenster will now meet Dodd City in the regional quarterfinals at a
time and place to be determined.
