Lindsay —
After six years as athletic director of Lindsay ISD, Codyb Bounds has accepted the same position at Bonham ISD. Bounds accepted the position Wednesday afternoon.
“I feel it [Bonham] is the right fit financially, where I am in my career, and for family,” Bounds said.
Bound’s wife will join her husband in Bonham accepting an elementary position.
Bounds led the Knights to the postseason every year he was there including seeing five Lone Star Cups in his time in Lindsay. Bounds went 8-5 last season with Lindsay making it all the way to the regional semifinals.
"I’ll miss the kids and the relationships,” Bounds said about his time in Lindsay. “We did some wonderful things. I know [Lindsay] will be great next year, I just felt this was a time for a move up to further my career. I think 3A is
where I always wanted to be and I could not pass up this opportunity.”
A challenge awaits Bounds in Bonham where the Purple Warriors have struggled the last few seasons. Bonham went 5-5 in 2011, picking up their first district win since 2008. It was their best season since 2005, when they went 8-4. Bounds takes over for Dale Trompler who went 9-21 in three seasons at Bonham. The Purple Warriors have not reached the postseason since that eight win season of 2005.
“It is a program going through some transition,” Bounds said. “They were 5-5 last year but I am excited about what we can do in a new district. I want to go in and build on the improvement that they have made.”
Bonham is grouped in a district with Princeton, Anna, Melissa and Community for the next two seasons.
