GIRLS HOOPS: Area teams finalize playoff plans

GAINESVILLE — Playoff plans were all but set for area girls basketball teams on Thursday.

Valley View, Gainesville and Era have come up with times and locations of their bi-district matchups as the UIL postseason begins next week.

Both Valley View and Era will play next Tuesday night in the Region II-1A bi-district playoffs at Burleson Centenial High School.

Depending on a play-in game to be played Friday, will determine which team will play at 6:30 p.m. or 8 p.m.

The Lady Eagles and Lady Hornets will settle a tie for second place at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Sanger. The winner gets the second seed.

Gainesville will battle a familiar foe in the first round of the playoffs as they will take on long-time district mate Celina in the Region II-3A bi-district playoffs.

The Lady Leopards and the Lady Cats will play at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Texas Woman’s University in Denton. The game is the first of a double-header with Argyle and Sanger playing after.

Muenster, which also made the playoffs, gets a bye in the first round as the Lady Hornets won their district.

Sacred Heart has clinched a playoff spot but the TAPPS postseason starts a week later than the UIL.
