The Sacred Heart Tigers and Tigerettes brought home a couple
more state titles for the trophy case Saturday at the TAPPS State
Track Meet in Waco.
The Tigers dominated the competition with 109.5 total points, with the
next closest competitor being SL Logos Prep with 66. Abilene Christian
placed third with 41 points.
Michael Davis had a tremendous day with second place finishes in the
triple jump, the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles. Davis had a time of
15.89 in the 110 hurdles and time of 40.84 in the 300 hurdles. He also
helped the 4X400 relay team capture first place with an overall time
of 3:33. Davis was joined on the team with Bob Bartush, John Paul
Hesse and Keith Metzler.
Bartush also picked up a first place finish in the 400 meter run with
a time of 51.26 and claimed the top finish in the 800 meter too with a
time of 2:00. Hesse took second place in the 800 with a time of 2:02.
Hesse also finished second in the mile with a time of 4:46.
Benjamin Yosten captured second place in the shot put with a throw of 42-3/4.
Sacred Heart also placed third in the 4X100 relay with a time of 45.51.
The Tigerettes picked up their state title with a total of 63 points.
They edged Austin Waldorf who finished with 61 points and Shiner St.
Paul who finished third with 59.5 points.
The mile relay team of Bailey Walterscheid, Payton Reiter, Mikenzie
Fleitman and Mikayla Fleitman sealed the deal with their first place
finish in a time of 4:22.
Other top three finished included Bailey Walterscheid finishing third
in the high jump with a leap of 4-8. Mikayla Fleitman captured first
place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:29. Mikenzie Fleitman took
home third in the 800 with a time of 2:31.
