(Continued)

ARGYLE —

Leopard freshman Zukari Long earned a spot at regionals with a fourth place finish in the discus with a throw of 119 feet, 11 inches. Celina’s Tyler Finke dominated the event with a toss of 158 feet, 4 inches - no other competitor got within 30 feet of him.

Erik DeLeon took fourth in shot put to secure a spot at regionals. The Leopard had a throw of 44 feet, 3.5 inches. Celina’s Finke also took gold in this event with a throw of 55 feet, 6 inches.

Gainesville hurdler Amara Ridge finished fifth in the 100-meter hurdles and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles. Ridge had a bit of bad luck in the 100-meter hurdles as the two runners in the lane to the right of her tripped over a hurdle early in the race, forcing Ridge off the track for a moment. Malik Johnson took sixth in the 400-meter run. The Leopard runner finished in a time of 53.34 seconds - Decatur’s Michael Smyers won at 51.73.

Gainesville’s Kassandra Najera finished seventh in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 31.13 seconds. She was less than four seconds back from a regional spot in the two-lap race.

The Lady Leopard 4x200-meter relay of Joan Dill, Brittany Royal, Bianca Walker, Ariannah Kemp took seventh. The 4x100-meter relay team of Dill, Amara Ridge, Evan Gregory and Royal finished eighth.

Gainesville’s Cory Neil was seventh in the 300-meter hurdles in a time of 44.83. Roosevelt Duffie was eighth in the 110-meter hurdles at 18.44 seconds.

The Leopard 4x400-meter relay team of Juan Hernandez, Joseph Sanders, Devyn Janzen and Malik Johnson finished eighth.
