BOYS HOOPS: Gainesville rolls past Sherman 52-42

SHERMAN — David Moore scored 14 points and Denzel Johnson had 13 as Gainesville rolled past Sherman 52-42 on Monday.

The Leopards (2-2) held Sherman to single digits in all but a 22 point second quarter.

Jonathan Mendez had a team-high 10 rebounds while Landon Bond had nine. Moore had nine assists and six steals in the game.

JT Looper led Sherman with nine points. Sherman was limited to 2 of 10 shooting as the Leopards jumped out to an 11-5 lead in the first quarter of the game.

The Leopards ended the game on a 13-0 run with Moore capping off the night with a 3-pointer.

Gainesville will host Vernon at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
