The Gainesville Lady Leopards won the championship of the first-ever
Red River Showcase team basketball camp this past weekend at North
Central Texas College with a perfect 7-0 record.
The three-day event featured eight teams all playing seven games in a
round-robin format.
Gainesville started the tournament Friday with an easy 42-12 win over
Godley, then finished the day with a 40-26 win over Era.
On Saturday, GHS picked up three more wins including a 41-14 victory
over Valley View, a 59-12 win over the Muenster JV and a 48-20 victory
against Lindsay.
The two toughest opponents awaited Gainesville on Sunday. In the
early-morning game, the Lady Leopards downed Alvord 44-34. In the
final game of the tournament, Gainesville defeated Muenster 51-33.
Alvord finished in second place with a 6-1 record, while Muenster was
third at 5-2.
