GAINESVILLE — Former Gainesville standout J.R. Harrison is an all-star.
The National Basketball League of Canada announced its all-star rosters, as voted on by fans, and the 2002 Gainesville High graduate made the roster as a reserve.
Harrison, who has battled his way back from injury this season, has averaged 17.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game for the Montreal Jazz. He was the only person from his team to make the all-star game.
Harrison was a star on the 2002 Class 3A state championship Leopard basketball team. He was named the MVP of the state championship game with a 16 point, 11 rebound effort in a 79-62 win over Koutze as a senior.
He finished his senior season averaging 19 points and 9.5 rebounds in helping the Leopards to a 29-5 overall record before playing college ball at Rice.
The 2013 NBL of Canada All-Star game will be held April 14 in Saint John, New Brunswick (Canada).
