GAINESVILLE — Don’t ever count the Lady Leopards out.
Gainesville broke up a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth after being flustered at the plate most of the night to power its way to a 3-1 win over No. 10 state-ranked Sanger on Monday.
The win was Gainesville’s third in a row with wins over Bridgeport and Decatur in its last two games.
The Lady Leopards started the fifth inning rally with a bunt before Hannah Gerken, Sarah Gerken and Brittany Royal would all eventually score.
Sarah Gerken picked up the win in the circle for the Lady Leopards.
It took a while for Gainesville to get the bats going as Sanger pitcher Kelly Mardones carved through the Lady Leopard lineup early on. She finished with 14 strikeouts in the game.
Gainesville will next travel to play Krum next Tuesday before hosting Bridgeport on senior night to close out the regular season on Friday.
