FOOTBALL: No. 1 ranked Munday too much for Muenster

MUENSTER — Munday quarterback Dee Paul ran for 95 yards and had three total touchdowns as the No. 1 state-ranked Moguls rolled past Muenster 45-10 on Friday at Hornet Stadium.

Paul, an SMU commit, had touchdown runs of 31 and 52 while also returning the second half kickoff 78 yards for a score in the District 8-1A Division II contest.

The Moguls (8-0, 3-0) seized sole possession of first place in league play with the win.

Munday totaled 394 yards on the ground – most of which came in a first half that saw the Moguls jump out to a 31-0 lead early in the second quarter.

Running back Steven Flusche led the Hornets (5-3, 2-1) with 82 yards on the ground on 13 carries. Mason Binder had 24 yards on five carries.

The Hornets’ lone touchdown came midway through the second quarter when quarterback Hunter Klement found tight end Cole Walterscheid in the back of the end zone for a 23-yard score.

Klement would later add a 40-yard field goal in the waning moments of the third quarter. Walterscheid would finish with three catches for 61 yards.

Munday running back Roddrick Taylor ran for 121 yards on six carries – all coming in the first half. Taylor had touchdown runs of 3 and 73 yards.

Fullback and defensive stalwart Tyrone Neskorik punched in the first two touchdowns for the Moguls with a 1-yard run less than two minutes into the contest and a 6-yard run with seven minutes left in the first quarter. He finished with 87 yards on seven carries.

Klement came in at quarterback for Binder late in the first quarter and would connect on 4 of 12 passes for 61 yards.

Muenster will host Petrolia at 7:30 p.m. next Friday.
