— The All-District 13-1A softball team was released earlier this week with a number of Cooke County athletes taking honors.
Muenster’s Regan Knightstep was named the league’s Most Valuable Player. Knightstep helped the Lady Hornets to the Region II-1A bi-district playoffs.
The All-District 13-1A teams are put together by the league’s coaches at the end of district play. The teams are not released until each team from the district is eliminated from the playoffs.
Lindsay’s Tara Atkins was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Also a standout pitcher, Atkins’ bat helped the Lady Knights to the Region II-1A quarterfinals.
Valley View freshman Riley Wilkerson was named the Newcomer of the Year by the league’s coaches. Wilkerson and the Lady Eagles also reached the Region II-1A bi-district playoffs.
Muenster’s Jordan Buddy was named the all-district Pitcher of the Year while Lindsay freshman Scout Tatum was the Utility Player of the Year.
Lindsay coach Robin Hess was named the league’s Coach of the Year.
First team players from Muenster were Cassie Danglemayr (IF), Lora Walterscheid (IF), Kristen Reiter (IF), Brittany Pagel (OF) and Sydney Huchton (OF).
First team players from Lindsay were Liz Wallace (IF), Hayley Skinner (IF), Briley Fleitman (IF), Kassidy Gum (OF), Katelyn Neu (OF) and Sara Clark (OF).
First team players from Valley View were Lauren Bierschenk (IF), Ashlynd Pugh (OF) and Krissy Kilpatrick (OF).
Second team players from Muenster were Abby Walterscheid (IF) and Morgan Flusche (OF).
Second team players from Valley View were Makayla Johnson (IF) and Rachel Bond (OF).
Lindsay’s Chandler Herr was also named second-team all-district.
Honorable mention honors went to Kendi Bayer (Muenster), Callie Wilhite (Valley View), Brenda Pearce (Valley View) and Nicole Popp (Lindsay).
