MELISSA — Tag Sparks had a single - Gainesville’s lone hit - as Melissa run-ruled the Leopards 10-0 on Tuesday.
Melissa’s Landon Wilson and Cory Regan combined for nine strikeouts over 5 innings while allowing only the single to Sparks in the win.
Chance Sikes took the loss for the Leopards, going 3 innings while striking out three batters and allowing four earned runs.
Chris Smith went 1 for 3 with a three-run home run in the first inning for Melissa.
The Leopards (5-4) will begin play at the Bowie Tournament at 7 p.m. today against Burkburnett.
Lindsay 11, Ector 9
Dylan Hughes went 3 for 3 with six RBIs as Lindsay snuck past Ector 11-9 in its District 15-1A opener on Tuesday.
Hughes delivered a three-run triple during a four-run third inning and a two-run double in a five-run fourth inning while also hitting a solo home run in the first inning. He finished a single short of a the cycle.
John Haverkamp picked up the win for Lindsay going 3 1/3 innings while striking out nine batters. Hughes started the game and went 2 innings.
Garrett Cooper went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and an RBI. Zach Mlinar, Trevor DeBord and Matthew Huston all had doubles and RBIs for Lindsay.
Watauga Harvest 11, Sacred Heart 1
Isac Walterscheid went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored for Sacred Heart in a loss to Watauga Harvest on Tuesday.
The Tigers were limited to four hits in the game with Austin Aldridge going 2 for 2 and Brady Endres going 1 for 3.
Stephen Kesslar took the loss for Sacred Heart going 1 1/3 innings while allowing three earned runs.
