GAINESVILLE —
The Associated Press released its initial Texas high school football poll on Thursday with a couple of area teams receiving votes.
Lindsay and Muenster both received votes in the AP poll voted on by selected sports writers from across the state.
Lindsay received 10 votes, tying the Knights with Albany for No. 15 in the poll.
Lindsay went 8-5 in reaching the regional semifinals a year ago. The Knights return 15 of their 22 starters from last season’s team.
Muenster came in at No. 19 on the poll with six votes with only Alto and Lindsay separating the Hornets from Lindsay.
The Hornets went 12-1 last year and were regional finalists. They return 11 of 22 starters and will play in Class 1A Division II this season.
Lindsay and Muenster will play the annual Kraut Bowl at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 in Lindsay.
Mart, the team that dismissed Muenster from the playoffs a year ago came in at No. 1 on the Class 1A poll.
