GAINESVILLE — A pair of Cooke County hoopsters received all-state honors on Thursday.
Gainesville’s Ariannah Kemp and Muenster’s Amber Walterscheid were named to the Texas Girls Coaches Association’s all-state girls basketball teams in their respective classifications.
The two standouts both led their teams to the playoffs and were named the top two players in Cooke County earlier this week.
Kemp, a junior, averaged 17.4 points and 11.1 rebounds per game in helping the Lady Leopards to a second place finish in District 9-3A.
Walterscheid, a senior, averaged 10.2 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.6 steals per game. She helped the Lady Hornets reach the Region II-1A tournament for the fifth consecutive year.
Muenster also ended the year state-ranked No. 9 in a poll released by the TGCA earlier this week.
