GIRLS HOOPS: Gainesville rolls past Ft. Worth Castleberry in opener

FT. WORTH — Gainesville made a statement in its season-opener.

The Lady Leopards thrashed Ft. Worth Castleberry 90-16 on the road to begin the season on Tuesday.

Gainesville (1-0) held a 55-11 lead at halftime and held Castleberry scoreless in the third quarter in the win.

Brittany Royal led the Lady Leopards with 29 points. Ariannah Kemp had 16 points and Accaica Sherrer, Hali Smith and Zhanice Lane all chipped in 11 points.

Gainesville will travel to play Kennedale at 7 p.m. Friday.

 

Muenster 51, Pottsboro 39

Lauren Rohmer poured in 21 points as Muenster rolled past Pottsboro 51-39 to open the season.

Paige Herr had six points for the No. 5 state-ranked Lady Hornets (1-0). Cedy Burnett had six points while Amber Walterscheid and Kassie Dangelmayr both scored five points.

Muenster will host Argyle at 5 p.m. Friday.

 

Era 48, Jacksboro 40

Sydney Beuthien put up 17 points and pulled down seven rebounds in Era’s 48-40 win over Jacksboro.

Shelby Huddleston chipped in 12 points for Era (1-0). Logan Knabe had 10 points, Hayley Knabe had seven and Darian Fuller added seven rebounds.

The Lady Hornets will travel to play Nocona at 6 p.m. Monday.

 

Valley View 49, Slidell 18

Lydia Zimmerer had eight points and six rebounds as Valley View romped past Slidell 49-18.

Bailey Wilhite and Lauren Biershenk both had seven points for the Lady Eagles (1-0). Caly Wilson and Savannah Schneiderjan both had six points while Erika Sappington had four points, six rebounds and three steals.

Valley View will host Bellevue at 6 p.m. today.
