Those returning to Callisburg for the team’s Homecoming game were not left disappointed, as the Wildcats (4-0) cruised to a 49-6 win against Whitewright Friday.
CHS got out to a 21-0 lead on two 4-yard touchdown runs from Jake Parker and a Rheyce Childress touchdown rush and never looked back, scoring the game’s final four touchdowns.
Callisburg had no trouble in the running game, scoring all seven of its touchdowns on the ground. Childress ran for two while Kordan Ward and Mason Langthorn also scored.
Childress got the scoring going with an 8-yard run with 6:50 left in the first and Parker extended the lead to 14-0 on a 4-yard run with 1:27 left in the quarter.
Callisburg allowed its firt and only touchdown in the second quarter, minutes after Parker notched his second score.
Langthorn ran it in from 10 yards out with less than two minutes before halftime, and second half touchdowns runs from Childress and Kordan Ward secured the victory.
Childress finished as Callisburg’s leading rusher, running for 208 yards on 16 attempts and two touchdowns. As a team, CHS ran for 384 yards of 57 attempts while allowing just 111 yards of offense.
Callisburg will try to stay undefeated at home against Pilot Point Friday.
