COLLEGE STATION — A trio of Cooke County players took part in the UIL State Tennis Championships that began on Monday in College Station.
The three Cooke County players all fell in the first round of the tournament held on the campus of Texas A&M University for Class 1A-3A schools.
Callisburg’s doubles team of Brandon Baker and Ryan Hart fell in the quarterfinals to Big Lake Regan County’s Timothy Stark and Jordan Subia 6-3, 6-3.
The duo reached the state tournament despite not winning their district or being seeded while going into the regional tournament.
Era’s Nick Wolf put up a good fight in his first round match. Wolf fell to Forsan’s J.P. Stevenson 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 to be eliminated from the tournament.
Wolf also reached the state tournament despite not winning his district championship.
