The North Central Texas College Lady Lions recently swept the Tyler Tournament of Champions, defeating four junior college programs for the tournament victory.
NCTC defeated Wharton College 22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 25-23, 15-10 and then beat Richland 25-13, 25-16, 25-18. The Lady Lions later faced SWCC, defeating them 25-3, 25-14, 25-9 and followed that with a win over Redlands 25-21, 25-12, 25-17.
Against Wharton, NCTC was led by Sam Smith, who had 18 digs, 16 kills and eight blocks while Danielle Hazzard scored 12 kills and four blocks.
Former Lindsay Lady Knight Kaylee Murphree tallied nine kills and nine blocks while Abbey Delp had 19 digs, Courtney Haney had 22 assists and 10 digs and Kelsey Espinosa finished with 25 assists.
Against Richland, Haney paved the way with 16 assists, nine kills and seven digs, Hazzard scored 10 kills and eight digs, Delp scored 16 digs and Kelsey Lynn finished with seven digs.
Against SWCC, Michelle Blount had 11 kills, Hazzard had eight, Smith and Delp each had seven digs, Espinosa finished with 17 assists and Haney scored 10 assists as well.
In their fourth match against Redlands, Hazzard had 12 kills and nine digs, Smith had eight kills and 20 digs, Delp finished with 18 digs, Haney scored 13 assists and 11 digs and Espinosa had 17 assists and 10 digs.
