ALUMNI NOTEBOOK: Gainesville's Lewis gets 2nd interception in as many games

SAN ANTONIO — Kielyn Lewis is making the most of his opportunities.

Despite being a part of the defensive back rotation at Incarnate Word, the Gainesville grad leads the team in interceptions, including a pick in last week’s 34-7 loss to Midwestern State.

Last week’s interception was the second in as many games for the former Leopard quarterback and all-district performer.

Lewis has 10 tackles on the season and Cardinals will host Texas A&M-Commerce at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Madison Parkhill (Lindsay) played linebacker in Austin College’s 49-21 loss to Birmingham Southern.

The week prior, Parkhill had three tackles against Sewanee. He has four total tackles on the season.

Aaron Fortenberry (Era) started his 16th consecutive game at center for North Texas in a 20-14 win over Florida Atlantic.

The former Hornet helped the Mean Green pile up 307 yards in helping North Texas to its best start since 2005.

Clay Waters (Collinsville) had six tackles in Southeastern Oklahoma State’s 27-24 loss to Ouachita Baptist.

The former Pirate now has tackles on the season.

Coby Ragsdale (Collinsville) had two tackles in SOSU’s loss to Ouachita Baptist.

The junior now has 12 tackles on the season – sixth most on the team.

Volleyball

MacKenzie Rohrbough (Callisburg) had six kills and two blocks in a 21-25, 20-25, 25-14, 14-25 loss to Vernon College last week.

Rohrbough and NCTC played at Eastfield College Tuesday though the results were not available at press time.

Jordan Fleitman (Lindsay) played significant time over the weekend as Lyon College played in the Rhodes College Tournament in Memphis, Tenn.

Lyon College went 1-2 at the tournament.
