The Whitesboro Lady Cats came away with a third-place victory at the Whitesboro Tournament Saturday.
The Lady Cats defeated Denison to open up bracket play by the scores of 25-27, 25-23, 25-22.
Whitesboro then lost out to Gunter in the next round 25-20, 25-23 to move to the third-place game against Frisco Heritage.
The Lady Cats defeated Frisco Heritage for third place by the scores of 25-12, 25-16.
Whitesboro (13-9) was led by Courtney Davis in the second half of the tournament as she finished with 18 kills, eight blocks, 10 digs and four aces.
Also contributing were Katelyn Labhart with 10 kills, 20 digs and six aces, Kortni Dickson with 11 kills, nine digs, three aces and two assists, Ashley Kirby with five kills, two digs and two blocks and Becca Mock with 26 assists, five digs, two kills and two aces.
Taylor Ezzell finished with 18 assists, 10 digs, three kills, two blocks and one ace, Rachel Urban had 26 digs and three aces, Taylor Crews added five digs and a kill and Tatum Ezzell had two blocks.
Labhart also was named to the all-tournament team.
As for the Gainesville Lady Leopards they lost both of their matches in the consolation bracket Saturday.
They opened with a loss to Van Alstyne and then fell to Ponder 25-23, 25-20, 25-23.
Stats for the matches were not sent in by press time.
Gainesville is now 5-14 on the season and they play host to Bridgeport tonight starting at 5 p.m. Whitesboro meanwhile, it travels to face Frisco Heritage at 5 p.m.
