The North Central Mudcats 10 and under team competed against 86
other teams in the AAYBA World Series Tournament held July 6-14 in
Flower Mound, Texas, and brought home the championship.
After several games of pool play, the feisty Mudcats kicked off the
bracket competition with a win over the Dallas Patriots 6-5. As they
moved up the winner’s bracket, they faced the Southlake Dragons,
beating them 3-0.
The Mudcats outstanding coaching staff kept the boys encouraged and
fired-up throughout the grueling tournament as they battled back to
overcome an early deficit to the Keller Aces prevailing 5-4, which
named the Mudcats the Silver North Division Champions.
On Saturday, July 14, the Mudcats advanced to the tournament finals,
securing their title of 10 & under World Series Tournament Champions
as they dominated the Dallas Cubs-Blue 6-2.
This was the first year the Mudcats participated in a select USAAA
World Series Tournament, as representatives for North Texas,
specifically, the Cooke County area, these kids made their mark as
hard-working, talented and respectful players. Several coaches from
opposing teams and tournament officials gave kudos to the Mudcats for
their sportsmanship. Congratulations!
