ROCKWALL — Devan Henry scored 14 points and Danielle Beren added 13 more as Sacred Heart cruised past Rockwall Heritage 45-28 in the TAPPS 3A girls basketball playoffs on Friday.
The Tigerettes forced 22 steals - Kaitlin Hesse had a team-high eight - as they used their defense to lead them to victory.
“We did not shoot the ball well but our defense was outstanding,” Sacred Heart coach Jon LeBrasseur said. “And, of course, we continue to knock down our free throws. I was very impressed with the way we got in passing lanes and, of course, our blocking continues to improve.”
The Tigerettes will next play Marble Falls Faith Academy at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Dublin High School.
Sacred Heart used a 17-7 second quarter to build a sizeable lead against Rockwall Heritage despite shooting only 22 percent from the field on the night.
Henry was 5 of 12 from the field with four of those coming from beyond the arc. Hesse tallied 13 rebounds in the contest and added a blocked shot.
