MUENSTER — After a run to the Region II-1A semifinals, it should come as no surprise that the All-District 13-1A girls basketball team is loaded with Muenster Lady Hornets.
A total of nine players were named to the team and Muenster received at least a share of five of the six superlative honors in the league honors that are decided on by district’s coaches.
Lady Hornet senior Amber Walterscheid received the top honor, garnering the District 13-1A Most Valuable Player award. She averaged 9.8 points, 7 rebounds, 1.7 blocks and 4.6 steals per game in leading the Lady Hornets an undefeated district championship.
Muenster’s Michelle Sicking was awarded the Offensive Player of the Year award. She average 10.1 points and 3 assists per game.
Valley View’s Erika Sappington and Muenster’s Cedy Burnett were named Co-Defensive Players of the Year. Burnett averaged 4.4 steals per game.
Era’s Courtney Neu and Muenster’s Kristen Reiter were named the Co-Sixth Man of the Year while Valley View freshman Lauren Bierschenk and Era freshman Hayley Knabe shared the Newcomer of the Year award.
Muenster coach Jason Atcheson was named the Coach of the Year.
Named first-team All-District 13-1A was Sydney Beuthien (Era), Logan Knabe (Era), Sydney Ott (Lindsay), Lydia Zimmerer (Valley View), Lauren Rohmer (Muenster) and Paige Herr (Muenster).
Earning second-team all-district was Shelby Huddleston (Era), Hannah Erwin (Era), Jalyn Anderle (Lindsay), Hayley Skinner (Lindsay), Makayla Johnson (Valley View), Bailey Whilte (Valley View), Brooke Johnson (Collinsville) and Hannah Bayer (Muenster).
Honorable mention all-district went to Sydney Huchton (Muenster), Kassie Dangelmayr (Muenster), Tara Atkins (Lindsay), Maddie Zimmerer (Lindsay), Savanna Schniederjan (Valley View) and Morgan Irelan (Collinsville).
