Hamfest set to go

Members of the Cooke County Amateur Radio Club put some final preparations on the Gainesville Hamfest 2010 during their club meeting last week. The annual Gainesville Hamfest 2010 is this Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gainesville Civic Center.
The Hamfest includes: programs, a flea market, dealers and vendors and eyball QSO’s and this year the grand prize will be an iCOM HF Transceiver. Other prizes include the pre-registration prize, which is a YAESU Mobil Radio. There will also be a prize for the best non-commercail table, and hourly door prizes will be given out. Winners do not need to be present to win the prizes.
The Hamfest is $6 for those preregistered to attend and $8 at the door.
Tables for the event are $8 for preregistered and $10 at the door. Tailgate space is $6 and it is first come, first served.
The ARRL VE Exams for ham radio licenses can be taken across the street at the Cooke County Public Library beginning at 9:30 a.m. The fee is $15. Bring a current license, CSCE’s and copies. The correct change and a photo ID is also required to take the exam.
