ELIZABETH JEWEL ROBERTS
Services for Elizabeth Jewel Roberts, 88, of Gainesville are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Central Baptist Church in Gainesville with Rev. Bill Fincher officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Roberts died July 17, 2008, at Pecan Tree Manor in Gainesville.
She was born Feb. 25, 1920, in Gainesville to Joseph and Myrtle (McAnally) Lewis. She was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church in Gainesville and was in food service for more than 40 years at the hospitals in Gainesville.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Barbara Roberts of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law, Gerry and John Smith of Gainesville; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Bobby Marten of Sanger; brother-in-law, Baker McDaniel of Kingsville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack Lewis; and sister, Mildred McDaniel.
Pallbearers are Glen Marten, Kenny Marten, Curtis Marten, Wayne Smith, Timothy Roberts; and Nathan Smith.
Honorary pallbearers are senior citizen members of Central Baptist Church.
Visitation will be at the Central Baptist Church from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service.

CHARLES HUNEYCUTT
WALNUT BEND ROAD — Services for Charles Huneycutt, 66, of Walnut Bend Road, are set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Huneycutt Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mr. Huneycutt died July 16, 2008, at his residence.
He was born March 16, 1942, in Odessa to W.R. “Ray” and Minnie Presnall Huneycutt. On Aug. 20, 1961, he married Fonda Williams at the Callisburg United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Callisburg High School, Texas A&M University with a B.S. degree in 1969 and a master’s degree in education in 1976. He taught school in Navasota and Aubrey and was principal at the Valley View School and superintendent at Tioga and Walnut Bend.
Survivors include his wife, Fonda Huneycutt; son and daughter-in-law, Harrell and Karen Huneycutt; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Joao Oliveira; five grandchildren; sister, Marilyn Huneycutt Simmons; in-laws, G.C. and Polly Williams and Joe and Brenda Williams and Sue Terry; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jeanice Huneycutt Durrett; and a niece and a nephew.
Pallbearers are Vernon Morrison, Jerry Conner, Sewell Cox, Watt LaRue, Danny Anderson, Wenceslao Navarro, Gordon Smith and Van Knight.
Honorary pallbearers are Hal Dick, Doug Martin, Lynn Vessels, Jerry Terry, Larry Threadgill, Bill Wellman, Danny Keeling and cousins.
Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday.

DON JUAN STEEDMAN
POTTSBORO — Funeral services for Don Juan Steedman, 72, are set for 2 p.m. Friday at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Rusty Waller officiating. Interment will follow in Gordonville Cemetery under the direction of the Meador Funeral Home of Whitesbro.
Mr. Steedman died July 16, 2008, at Texoma Medical Center in Denison.
He was the son of John and Birdie (Badgett) Steedman. He was born Feb. 13, 1936, at Randolf. He was a farm worker and a member of Gordonville Baptist Church.
He is survived by brothers, Badge Steedman of Denison and Bill Steedman of Savoy; and sister, Anora Merritt of Austin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Birdie Steedman.

EFFIE BORDEN
Effie Borden, 91, died Monday, July 14, 2008.
She was born April 10, 1917 in Mansfield. She spent her childhood in Gracemont, Okla. When she was 18, she married Ralph E. Borden. Ralph and Effie farmed the land. When Effie was 43, she lost her husband, Ralph. Effie remained in Gracemont for a few years, then she and her children moved to St. Paul, Ore. After all of her children were grown she moved to Sweet Home, Ore., with her oldest daughter, Avis. Effie lived the remainder of her life with her daughter Avis, intermittently staying with her other children in the Saint Jo area in Texas and in Scotts Mills/Salem, Ore.
Effie was a longtime member of the Church of Christ of Sweet Home, Ore. She enjoyed reading her Bible and doing Bible lessons, flowers, quilting and putting puzzles together.
She was preceded by her son, James Borden about 5 years ago; mother and father, George and Martha Elrod; three sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Janice Borden of Sweet Home, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law, Avis Kittson of Sweet Home, Ore., Betty and Tom Kneeland of Scotts Mills, Ore., and Judy and Jim Frymire of Salem, Ore.; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph and Linda Borden of Saint Jo and David and Ginger Borden of Gainesville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brother, Claude Elrod of Maderia, Calif.
Graveside services for Effie are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in Gracemont Cemetery in Gracemont, Okla. C.E. Cole will officiate and services are directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
BILL “SHORTY” EDDOWES
Services for Bill “Shorty” Eddowes, 78, of Gainesville are set for 10 a.m. Friday at the Thackerville Church in Thackerville, Okla., with Rev. Mike Sampson of the Thackerville Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mr. Eddowes died July 12, 2008, at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.
He was born Sept. 12, 1929, in Keller to Franklin and Martha (Crisp) Eddowes. On Oct. 15, 1977, he married Melinda McKinney in Gainesville. He was a member of Thackerville Church of Thackerville, Okla., and a retired ranch hand.
Survivors include his wife, Melinda Eddowes of Gainesville; sons and daughters-in-law, Joe and Erika Dugger of Clarksville, Tenn., and Thomas Carl and Elisha Eddowes of Gainesville; daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya and Chris Hess of Muenster, and Tara and Troy Berres of Muenster; seven grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Ann Booker of Gainesville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Frank Eddowes; brother, Carl Eddowes; and sisters, Nora Eddowes, Louise Eddowes and Johnnie Melton.
Pallbearers are John Murphy, Gene Murphy, Danny Murphy, David Eddowes, John Moore, and Tom Emberton.
Visitation will be at the Clement-Keel Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. today.
