HARVEY M. “TIM” MOONEY III

Visitation for Harvey M. “Tim” Mooney III, 66, of Gainesville is set from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at 217 E. 4th Street in Lindsay. Arrangements are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Mooney died Aug. 8, 2008, at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.

He was born July 22, 1942, in Bridgeport to Mary Jo Hopson Mooney and H.M. Mooney Jr. He was a graduate of Decatur High School and was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church in Decatur. Tim enjoyed his family and friends, training pets, writing poetry, wood carving, trading at flea markets and playing dominoes at Stanford House Senior Citizens Center.

Survivors include his daughter, Mindy Mooney of Saginaw; brothers and sister-in-law, Dudley Mooney of Santo and Mart and Linda Mooney of Decatur; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura Hubbard of Alvord, Mary and Arvel Hubbard of Decatur, Nell Hess of Lindsay, Dana Elliott of Lindsay, Meradith and Les Smith of Ophir, Colo., Virginia “Gin” and Larry Henry of Gainesville, and Molly and Glenn Crawshaw of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jandy K. Mooney; and brother, Michael Mooney.

Honorary pallbearer is James Lopez.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stanford House; 401 W. Garnett St.; Gainesville, TX 76240.

CHRISTOPHER DUANE HUNEYCUTT

Services are pending for Christopher Duane Huneycutt of Gainesville at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

He died Friday, Aug. 15, 2008 at his residence



TRICIA LEE JENKINS

Services for Tricia Lee Jenkins, 45, of Gainesville have been set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jenkins died Aug. 15, 2008 at the River Valley Health & Rehabilitation Center in Gainesville

She was born July 26, 1963 in Corpus Christi to Jim and Patsy Taylor Seeds.

She was a nail technician at the Masters Touch in Gainesville for three years. She was injured in an automobile accident in 2000 which left her disabled. From then on, it was all about her family grandbabies.

Survivors include her mother, Patsy Taylor of Gainesville; son, Chase Serna of Muenster; daughters, Tiffany Copling of Gainesville and Micalah Jenkins of Gainesville; 2 grandchildren; 6 nieces and brothers, Randy and Jimmy Seeds both of Gainesvile and sister and brother-in-law Dara and Bill Slaven of Portsmouth, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Seeds and her sister, Nicky Briggs.

Pallbears are Chase Serna, Cody Copling, Randy Seeds, Bo Seeds, Bill Slaven and Bill Taylor.

Visitation is at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday.

WELDON EDWARD FLANERY

HASLET – Weldon Edward Flanery, 60, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008 in Haslet after a courageous 11 year battle with cancer.

Weldon was born June 12, 1948 in Gainesville, Texas to Weldon Dan and Sallie Flanery. Raised in Oklahoma, Weldon graduated from Woodward High School in 1966. He married Leslie Joyce of Gainesville on May 31, 1969 while attending Texas Christian University where he graduated in August 1970. Weldon also completed a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from North Texas State University in 1978.

Weldon served as City Clerk/City Treasurer for the City of DeQueen, Arkansas in 1974-1975 before moving to Dallas where he worked for the City of Dallas for 30 years.

As Vice President of Foundation Development Consultants, Inc., Weldon was instrumental in helping numerous school districts establish successful education foundations. Prior to his death, Weldon also worked for Threshold Land Services as a landman.

Weldon’s strength and determination during his life has served as inspiration to his family, friends and doctors. His wit and sense of humor despite years of medical treatments and overwhelming odds was a constant source of strength for those who loved him most.

SURVIVORS: Wife of 39 years, Leslie Flanery; son and daughter-in-law, Shawn and Missy Flanery of Haslet; grandchild, Kate Ryan Flanery; brother, Danny Flanery of Gainesville; mother-in-law, Ila Joyce of Gainesville; brother-in-law, Greg Joyce of Haslet; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chris and Diane Joyce of Gainesville; niece and nephew, Neely Joyce and Jace-Michael Joyce of Gainesville; aunt, Virginia Roach of Keller; uncle and aunt, Guy and Helen Bosley of Gainesville; and numerous cousins.

ANGELINA SERNA

Angelina Serna, 89, of Sanger, passed away on Thursday, August 14, 2008 at her home.

She was born on December 29, 1918 in San Antonio, Texas to Cirildo and Delores (Reyes) Costilla. She married Francisco T. Serna on July 11, 1943 in Goliad, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denton.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m., on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at the Sanger High School Commons Area, 100 E. Chapman Drive, Sanger, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 18, 2008, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2255 N. Bonnie Brae, Denton, Texas. Father Isaac Orozco will officiate. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: Frankie Dale Serna, David Serna, Joey Serna, John A Villanueva, Ruben Gutierrez, Mark Serna. Honorary pallbearers will be Kevin Serna and Jeffrey Serna.

Mrs. Serna is survived by five daughters, Elida Padron of Sanger, Lucy Villanueva of Sanger, Sarah Longoria of Slidell, Delia Parsons of Denton, and Beatrice Serna of Sanger; five sons, Frank Serna, Richard Serna, and Joe Serna all of Gainesville, Manuel Serna and Augustine Serna both of Valley View; one sister, Lupe Rangel of Goliad; 40 grandchildren, 87 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francisco on December 4, 1997, her son, Julio in 1985; four sisters, Elouisa Cristan, Ester Guererro, Hortensia Rodriguez, and Linda Sanchez; seven brothers, Cirildo Costilla, Fredrico Costilla, Bartolo Costilla, Ysidro Costilla, and Arturo Costilla, Manuel Costilla and Pedro Costilla.

BARBARA PRESTON

Barbara Preston was born March 2, 1936 in Dallas and entered heaven on Aug. 15, 2008. She was a gentle caring person and will be missed by her family and many friends. Barbara was retired from the Dallas County Juvenile Department where she was employed for 42 years. She moved to Gainesville following retirement and resided for the past four years in assisted living at Wheeler House. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, Gainesville, and the Alathean Sunday school class.

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Virgil Musick of Lake Kiowa; beloved nieces and nephew: Cindy Schabow and family of Papillon, Neb. Kerry Turner and family of Garland; and Don Preston and family of Cedar Hill and a number of cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Barine Preston and her brother, Conrad Preston.

Visitation will be Sunday, Aug. 17, from 5-6 p.m. at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Gainesville with interment at laurel Land Memorial Cemetery in Dallas at 2 p.m.. If desired, memorials may be made to the building fund, First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
