ANN “MEME” JACKSON
DENTON — Services for Ann “MeMe” Jackson, 62, of Denton, formerly of Gainesville, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday at Clement-Keel Chapel with Rev. J.W. Beachum officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Jackson died Aug. 16, 2008, at Presbyterian Hospital.
She was born April 4, 1946, in Waco to Daniel and Perry (Leonard) Beachum. She was a member of the St. James A.M.E. Church. She had worked for Southland Paint and Linda Jo’s Shoe Factory for many years. She loved to play bingo and cards.
Survivors include her daughter, Michele Jackson of Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandson, Trey Bobo of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Glenda Fuller of Gainesville, Brenda Fugett of Denton, Beverly and James Brown of Gainesville, and Pat and Odis Hines of Tracy, Calif.; brother and sister-in-law, Harvey and Ruth Manuel of Arlington; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Perry Manuel; brother, Charles Manuel; and one grandson, Trevor Bobo.
Pallbearers are Rodney Fuller, Russell McCloud, Shelton Medlock, Brandon Medlock, Charles Manuel Jr. and Michael Brown.
Visitation will be at the Clement-Keel Funeral Home from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.

BONNIE LOUISE BROOKS
Services for Bonnie Louise Brooks, 70, of Gainesville are pending with the Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Ms. Brooks died Aug. 17, 2008, at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
A. JEWEL (ALLEN) CARTER
Services for A. Jewel (Allen) Carter, 84, of Gainesville are set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Russell, a grandson of Jewel Carter, officiating. Burial will follow in New Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mrs. Carter died Aug. 17, 2008, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman.
She was born Nov. 1, 1923, in Clarendon to Stennie Samuel and Lizzie Lou Patman Allen. On Aug. 2, 1942, she married Raymond Elbert “Pete” Carter. Jewel taught for 24 years in the Edison and J.M. Lindsay Elementary Schools. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and particularly enjoyed singing in the “Joy Singers” Choir. Her favorite past times were painting, quilting and spending time with her family. Her Biblical wisdom and strength were an inspiration to her whole family.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alex Cummings of Gainesville; son-in-law, Larry Scoggin; grandchildren, Brad and Amanda Scoggin, Jenny Hughes, David Cummings, and Cathy and Tommy Russell; great-grandchildren, Kyleigh Scoggin, Jansyn Hughes, and Deacon Russell; and sister, Dorothy Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Elbert “Pete” Carter; by her parents; by her daughter, Carol Ann Scoggin; by her grandson, Ashtyn Makenna Hughes; and by her brothers and sisters, William Allen, Mary Lou Faust, and Pauline Elizabeth Gillespie.
Pallbearers are Brad Scoggins, David Cummings, Alex Cummings, Dudley Gillespie, Ned Carter and Trey Carter.
Honorary pallbearers are Gary Gillespie, Harold Darby, Billy Joe Faust, and Mike Carter.
Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. today.
