EUNICE VERMEL TAYLOR
SHAWNEE, Okla. — Services for Eunice Vermel Taylor, 87, of Gainesville are set for 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Okla. with Jim McCage officiating. Burial is set to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Okla.
Mrs. Taylor died Thursday, Aug. 21, 2008 in Gainesville.
She was born July 12, 1921 in Forest Township, Okla. to Alva and Mae Scott. She grew up in the Shawnee area and attended schools in Shawnee. She graduated from Shawnee High School in 1940.
On Sept. 21, 1940, she married Boyce Taylor in Yuma, Ariz. The couple eventually returned to Shawnee where they raised three children. Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker for her husband and children. She also enjoyed her church work and participated in all her children’s activities. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She and her family moved to Texas in 1960 and lived there until 1993 when they moved back to Shawnee.
Survivors include two daughters Sharon Carlile of Gainesville and Kathie Lejeune and her husband Bob of Alvin, 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 11 great great granchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, son David, and husband Boyce.
Visitation is planned for noon to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Resthaven Funeral Home.

TOMMY CARR
MULDROW, Okla. — Services for Tommy Carr, 71, of Muldrow, Okla., formerly of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mr. Carr died Aug. 26, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 29, 1936 in Gainesville to Yerbie Benton and Annie Mae Clark Carr.
On April 30, 1955 he married Glenda Liedtke.
Tommy attended Gainesville public schools and loved and was active in all sports. One of his great loves was race horses and he was an accomplished trainer for over 40 years. He still loved and enjoyed watching his horse until the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Glenda Carr of Muldrow, Okla.; daughters Patti Reed of Gainesville; Vicki Pipes of Denton; sons, Doug Carr; and Tommy Glen Carr both of Muldrow, Okla; grandchildren, Tonya Townley and her husband, Jeremy; great-grandchildren, Jase and Bryce Townley of Gainesville; grandchild Tracy Holman and children, Crislyn and Trinity of Gainesville, grandchild, Tammi Ford and her husband, Michael of Denton and children, Madalyn, Mason and Braedon; grandchild Carla Dennis and her husband, Danny and children, Karlee and Haylee of Denton; grandsons, Joel Alan Proctor of Tahlequah, Okla.; and Kale Thomas Carr of Jones, Okla., several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother, Rodger (Spunky) Carr and his wife, Jean; sister-in-law, Joan Fife of Pittsburg, Okla.; brothers-in-law, Ronald Liedtke and his wife, Jan of Tyler and Donald Liedtke and his wife, Robyn of Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Y.G. (Jiggs) Carr and Randy (Hoot) Carr.
Pallbearers are Chris Rogers, Herbie Locke, Harvey Kitchens, Doug Gaston, George Morgan and Doug Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers are Hubert Blankenship, Bill Dale, Tom Callen, Jack Palmer, Eddie Rutherford, Robert Dimitt and Ken Kelly.
Visitation will be at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday.

GEORGE W. GILBREATH
Graveside services for George W. Gilbreath, 52, of Gainesville are set for 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 25 at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Huffman officiating. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Gainesville Lodge #210, AF AM.
Mr. Gilbreath died August 22, 2008 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 27, 1955 in Gainesville to George C. and Anna Jean Foster Gilbreath.
He graduated from Gainesville High School and was a self-employed electrician. He was a member of Gainesville Lodge #210 AF AM and was a member of a Baptist church.
Survivors include his parents, George and Anna Jean Gilbreath of Gainesville, daughter Jori Ann Gilbreath of Gainesville and son Jordan Gilbreath of Gainesville.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Sheila Gail.

GLADYS A. BLAND COMMANDER
Gladys A. Bland Commander, 90, of Denton, died Thursday, August 21, 2008, at Walnut Place in Dallas. She was born December 8, 1917, in Cherokee County, Texas, to Wilburn Lamourn and Mattie Clara (Hicks) Bland. She attended Public Schools in Alto, and Primrose High school in Cherokee County, and received her B.S. and Med. from Texas Woman’s University in Denton. She was married to James Sidney Commander on October 14, 1933, in Alto, Texas. He died June 26, 1994. She was a Elementary School Teacher for the Denton Independent School, retiring in 1984 from the Newton Rayzor Elementary School. and she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denton, The Lady Lions Club, First Baptist Church 39’ers, AARP, and the Retired Teachers Association. Her hobbies were ceremaics, painting and sewing.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 25, 2008, in the Cindy Nichols Chapel of the First Baptist Church, 1100 Malone St. Denton, TX with Rev. Scott Hooper, and Rev. Cliff Feeler, officiating. Private burial was in the Roselawn Memorial Park, Denton. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cottonwood Baptist Church Children’s Ministry; 273 CR, #527; Dublin, TX 76446 of the First Baptist Church Library; 1100 Malone St.; Denton, TX 76201. Mulkey-Mason, Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home, 705 N. Locust in Denton, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Commander is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Sylvia and Lanny Lyons of Gainesville and Delores and Bob Hooper of Dublin; Four Grandchildren, Pamela Lyons Hobbs, David Lyons, Robert Hooper, and Scott Hooper; and Eleven Great Grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Gladys was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; by her sisters, Hazel Steed and OIma Holcomb; brother, Willis Bland.
