JERRY WAYMON BATES

SADLER — Funeral services for Jerry Waymon Bates, 60, is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Dr. Joe Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mr. Bates died at his home on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2008.

He was born on Dec. 30, 1947, in Colorado City, Texas, to Waymon and Edith Bates. He was the owner/operator of Jerry’s Auto in Sadler for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Bates of Sadler; children, Jerry Don Bates and wife, Suzanne of Fort Worth, John Michael Bates and wife, Shae of Howe, Paula Perkins and husband, Bill of Sadler, Daren McGowan and wife, Jerri Ann of Monahans, Shannon McGowan and wife, Kelli of Grapevine and Matthew Polley of Alvarado; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wanda and J.M. Southard of Perrin, Darlene and Bascom Warden of Grand Prairie and Patsy Cockerham of Sherman; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly Bates; and parents, Waymon and Edith Bates.

Pallbearers will be Bud Goings, Jerry Irelan, Dan Reeves, Ken Landtroop, Frank Quick and Johnny Mitcheson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cotton Simmons and James Mac Parsons.
