ANTHONY GREWING

MUENSTER — Funeral services for Anthony Grewing of Muenster are pending with McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.

Anthony Grewing died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Denton Regional Hospital.





DANNY LEE MCCULLOUGH

VALLEY VIEW — Funeral services for Danny Lee McCullough, 61, of Valley View will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Slay Memorial Funeral Chapel with Rev. Kenneth Reiter officiating.

Interment will follow at Pilot Point Community Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey.

Danny Lee McCullough passed away on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009. He joined his father, Edgar McCullough and brother, James (Bubby) McCullough.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1948 in Carrollton to Edgar and Sudie (Rollins) McCullough. He married Katharyn Strayhorn on June 29, 1968 in Lockney. He has been happily married for forty-one years. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and worked for 25 years at Lily of the Desert.

Danny is survived by his mother, Sudie McCullough of Mabank; his wife, Katharyn McCullough of Valley View; daughter, Teresa Luna and husband Frank of Salt Lake City, Utah; son, Johnny McCullough and wife Henrietta of Garland and daughter, Sudie McCullough and husband Bruce Blagburn of Valley View. He is also survived by grandchildren, Colton, Brandon, Danny II, Katharyn, Alex, Robin and Raven; step-grandchildren, Patricia, James and John; brother, Eddie McCullough and wife Marilyn of Athens; sister, Della Moulton and husband Butch of Mabank; brother, Charlie McCullough and wife Trisha of Wolfe City; brother, Terry McCullough and wife Sharon of Nevada; sister-in-law, Maria McCullough of Madrid Seville Spain; brother-in-law, Kenny Strayhorn and wife Shelia of Valley View; sisters-in-law, Sueanne Jamison and husband David of Burleson, Georgia Seal and husband Roy of Terrell, Virgie Ransburger and husband Jeff of Wautaga, Mary Vandaford of Ft. Worth and Brett Vandaford of Garland; mother-in-law, Marie Strayhorn of Valley View and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends during a visitation to be held from 7-8 p.m. this evening, Oct. 27, 2009 at Slay Memorial Funeral Center in Aubrey.

MAXINE HENLEY REITER

Oct. 28,1922-Oct. 25, 2009

Services for Maxine Henley Reiter, 86, are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at the Era Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Kilgore and Pastor Tom Patzer.

Burial will follow at Era Cemetery in Era. Services are under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Reiter passed away on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Ardmore, Okla.

Maxine was born to John and Cora Beatrice Henley in Copperas Cove on Oct. 28, 1922, the fourth of seven children. After graduating from Highland Park High School in Dallas, she moved to California where she worked as a secretary for Voice of Prophecy Radio Broadcasting Program for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She later returned to Texas and married Reuben Reiter on April 13, 1946 at the Fort Worth Seventh-day Adventist Church. Together they raised four boys on the farm in the Era Community.

Through the years Maxine enjoyed her role as a mother and grandmother. Her skills as a homemaker brought joy to her family and her neighbors as she shared baked goods and garden produce with them. Some of her hobbies included sewing, Bible crossword puzzles, as well as she was an avid reader. Maxine has always been active in the Gainesville Seventh-day Adventist Church, spending many of her years working in the children’s division. She loved serving the Church holding such offices as Deaconess, Sabbath School Leader, Music Minister, and Children’s Leader. She also babysat many years in the community, 20 of which were spent babysitting for Sunday services at the Era Baptist Church.

Mrs. Reiter is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Marsha Reiter of Valley View and Randy and Paula Reiter of Era; daughter-in-law, Jaunita Reiter of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Gary and Melanie Reiter of Fort Worth, Shirley and Chuck Easley of Cleburne, Todd and Amanda Reiter of Era, Kerri and Michael Hitt of Era, Chad and Bonnie Reiter of Corpus Christi, and Carl Reiter of Collegedale, Tenn. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Justin Reiter of Kerkook Iraq, Chris Reiter of Fort Worth, Katie and Chaz Easley of Cleburne, Colton and Ashlynn Reiter of Corpus Christi, Erika Hitt and Avery and Emery Reiter of Era.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Reuben Reiter on Aug. 9, 2004; her sons, Daniel Reiter and Carrol Reiter; her granddaughter, Chelsea Reiter and all of her brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers are Gary Reiter, Shirley Easley, Todd Reiter, Kerri Hitt, Chad Reiter and Carl Reiter.

The family will receive friends at Clement-Keel Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m. this evening, October 27.

BILLYE LU HOWE

Funeral services for Billye Lu Howe, 81, of Gainesville are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Billye passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on October 24, 2009. Mrs. Howe was born in Gainesville on May 19, 1928 to Harry Hugh and Edna Francis Walker Barnhart. She had an interest genealogy and was a member of the Cooke County Genealogical Society. She was Executive Secretary of Cooke County Campfire Association for a number of years, and was very involved in Habitat for Humanity.

Mrs. Howe is survived by her husband, Clifford Howe of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Susan Howe of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Gail Howe of Richland, Wash.; daughter, Jill Dugger of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law, Pat and Stacy Howe of Gainesville and sister, Mildred Whaley of Whiteright. She is also survived by grandchildren, Mikah, Marlye, Amy, Brandon, Brian, Blair, Josh, Mandi, Sarah, Steven, Charlie and Julie and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Hugh Barnhart and Jack Barnhart and her sisters, Mary Dean Oregon and Jane Young. She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Calvin Dugger.

Pallbearers will be Josh Dugger, Steven Howe, Charlie Howe, Robert Proffer, Randlow Smith and Erin Marler. Honorary pallbearer will be Lad Dugger.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home Monday evening from 7-8 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Home Hospice of Cooke County.

BERTIE “BABE” PARKER PETERS

Funeral services for Bertie Lanora “Babe” Parker Peters, 91, will be held on Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. under the Pavilion at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Bertie Lanora “Babe” Parker Peters passed away on Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 with her family by her side in Savannah, Georgia.

Babe was born in Myra and grew up in Gainesville with her sisters, Lucille Parker Simpson, Estelle Parker Maniss, Marie Parker Maniss and her mother and father, Viola and Joe Parker. Her son, Donald Gene Peters and her husband of 61 years, Maurice “Pete” Peters both preceded Babe in death. Babe and Pete were life long sweethearts and will once again be rejoined.

Babe (Mimi to many), was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Her family was always the most important thing in her life.

She is survived by her devoted daughter and caregiver, Sue Peters Frankland and son-in-law, Ben Frankland; daughter-in-law, Dee Peters; grandchildren, Misty Phillips, Carie Kuhn and husband Ralph, Stephen Peters and wife Teresa, Hope Frankland Daniel and husband James, Lisa Frankland Flournoy and husband Rich and eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be accepting guests this evening, Oct. 27, 2009 from 6-7 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Sons Funeral Home in Gainesville.
