HENRY SAM WARD, JR.

JERRY LEWIS THEOBALD

Funeral services for Jerry Lewis Theobald, 65, of Gainesville are set for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel.

Burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carrol & Son Funeral Home.

Jerry was born Oct. 16, 1944 in Denison to Emmett and Ruby Davis Theobald. The family moved to Gainesville shortly thereafter where Jerry lived the remainder of his life. He was employed as an engineer for the Santa Fe Railroad and later Burlington Northern, for over 30 years. On Dec. 10, 1976 he married the love of his life, Shirlene Mays in Gainesville.

The greatest joy in Jerry's life was his family. His wife Shirlene followed by his brother, children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Nothing brought him more happiness than to see those nieces and nephews at play, laughing and just enjoying being kids. He was always the first one to crack a joke and make you laugh or smile. He just enjoyed life so much and it was all about his family. He will be so greatly missed by his family and the many wonderful friends he's made through his lifetime.

He is survived by his wife, Shirlene Mays Theobald; daughter, Sonya Elmore, of Gainesville; step-son, Joe LeGear of Denton; grandsons, Chaz LeGear and Brian Elmore, of Gainesville; one brother, Mike Theobald and his wife Leta Beeler Theobald of Red Oak and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett Merle and Ruby Davis Theobald.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ochs, Paul Ritchy, Matt Pugh, David Evans, Lawrence Siger, Eric Carter, Morgan Herd and Dwayne.

The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. this evening, Oct. 29, 2009 at the funeral home.



LANNY KELLEY

ERA — Funeral services for Lanny Kelley, 60, of Era are scheduled for Saturday Oct. 31, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Prairie Point Nazarene Church in Forestburg with the Rev. Ron Minor officiating. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll Funeral Home.

Mr. Kelley died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at Denton Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville.



RICHARD LINDELL CHAPMAN

Memorial service for Richard Lindell Chapman will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31 at Bones Chapel Baptist Church in Whitesboro. The Rev. Rick Carney will officiate the service.

Richard passed away Oct. 28, 2009 at his residence in Dorchester.

He was born April 28, 1949 in Gainesville to Robert Edward Chapman and Ruby Mae Johnson-Chapman. He graduated from Whitesboro High School in 1969. He married Donna Marie Rhodes of Sherwood Shores Nov. 22, 1969 in Whitesboro.

Richard Chapman worked for Texas Instruments and Raytheon for 37 years and was working for Weber Aircraft at the time of his death. He and his wife were very active with their six children in soccer and Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Salvation Army and was named Volunteer of the Year for the entire Southwest area. Over the years he helped victims of numerous tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes. He was a Christian and was forever helping family and friends. He loved camping and fishing and was always eager to tackle new projects with his buddy, Russell.

Richard is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Donna Chapman; three sons and three daughters, Jesse Chapman and Richard Chapman, Jr. Of Dorchester, Brian Chapman of Atlanta, Ga., Christina Chapman and Mary Chapman of New York City, N.Y. and Sarah Murray and husband, Richard Murray of Mission Viejo, Calif.; six grandchildren; brothers, Bob Chapman and wife, Barbara of Gainesville, Tom Chapman and wife Nan of Arlington and sisters, Judy Phelps and husband, J. W. Phelps of Winnie and Rosa Mohtasham of Whitesboro.

Visitation will be at the home on Mormon Grove Rd. in Dorchester Friday, between 6-8 p.m.







DOROTHY ELIZABETH WINGERT BOHLS

Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth Wingert Bohls, 95, of Gainesville are set for 11 a.m. Thursday of next week, Nov. 5, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Dorothy died at home on Oct. 25, 2009 with family at her side.

Born in Gainesville on Jan. 6, 1914 to Wilhelm Gottlieb and Sarah Margaret (Delap) Wingert, she was the youngest of five children. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church and was one of the first babies baptized in the current building. She was a member of the Gainesville High School graduating class of 1931.

She met her future husband Clyde Bohls while working at the Kress store in Gainesville, where he was the manager. They were married on July 19, 1936. In 1939, they moved to Waco where Clyde would manage the Kress store and a year later their only daughter Linda Bohls was born. In 1941 they returned to Gainesville and established the business that would become Bohls Furniture. When the new building opened on California Street in 1959, Dorothy ran the Maple Shop upstairs and later the Green Stamp Store. Dorothy was a president of the Business and Professional Women's club in the 1930s, a founding and active member of Gainesville Garden Study Club and involved with her daughter's activities in Girl Scouts and PTA. She received an honorary life-time membership in the Presbyterian Women Association. She also enjoyed flower arranging, painting and crafts, entertaining and was well known for her whistling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bohls and daughter Linda Bohls Newman.

She leaves behind her son-in-law, Ned Newman and wife Tommie Kirksmith-Newman; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jennifer and Donald Pitts; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Greg and Connie Newman; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Newman, Zoe Pitts and her “birthday twin” Jacob Newman, plus numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Ned Newman, Greg Newman, Jacob Newman, Donald Pitts, Mike Goss and Dean Read.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cad Wingert, Richard Wingert, Steve Goss and Brett Wingert.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. next Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.

AUDREY E. OLIPHANT

Funeral services for Audrey E. Oliphant, 90, of Gainesville are pending with Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home.

Mrs. Oliphant died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009 at Pecan Tree Health and Rehabilitation in Gainesville.

COLLINSVILLE – Funeral services for Emma Lou Light, 90, of Collinsville will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at the Collinsville Church of Christ in Collinsville with Olden Cook officiating.

Interment will follow in Collinsville Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.

Emma passed away on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at her daughter’s home in Southmayd.

Survivors include her sons, Bill Light of Collinsville, Randy Light of Sherman and Carey Light of Sadler; daughter, Cathy Ricks of Southmayd and sisters, Lavelle Gaddis of California and Janelle Shepard of Southerton, Ore.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. this evening, Oct. 29, 2009 at the funeral home.

ANTHONY F. “DUDE” GREWING, SR.

MUENSTER – Funeral services for Anthony F. “Dude” Grewing, Sr., 64, of Muenster are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster. Fr. Ken Robinson will officiate.

Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Services are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Muenster.

Mr. Grewing died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009 at Denton Regional Medical Center in Denton.

Survivors include his daughters, Julie Ann Walterscheid, Tammy Sue Brown and Shawna Marie Herr; sons, Anthony “Tony” Grewing, Jr., Jonathan A. Grewing, Kenneth N. Grewing, and Matthew C. Grewing and siblings, Angie Barnhill and Herman Grewing.
