RUTH ANN DAVIS

Funeral services for Ruth Ann Davis 75, of Gainesville are set for Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 at 2 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Paul Witt officating with burial in the Witt-Ratliff Cemetery.

Visitation will be this evening, Jan. 25, 2010 from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Davis passed away on Jan. 22, 2010 at Denton Presbyterian Hospital after a long illness.

Ruth was born on October 19, 1934 in Olney Illinois to Truly Telford and Mary Magdaline White Struble. Ruth Ann married Elmer Wayne Davis on May 12, 1960 in Gainesville. She worked as a secretary at Linda Jo Shoe Company and later at Valenite where she retired in 1999. She was an avid quilter and a member of the Common Threads Quilt Guild and also a member of the Downard Fairplans Quilters.

She was a member of the Downard Fairplains Community.

Ruth is survived by her brother and sister-in-law: Bob and Clete Struble of Olney, Il; sister: Norma Jean Butts of Neb.; sisters-in-laws, Avinelle Turner of Clovis, N.M.; Yvone Struble of Ohio and Kaye Davis of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law: Bill and Cathy Leonard of Gainesville, Dale and Rebecca Leonard of Siouz City, Iowa; daughter and son-in-law, David and Melanie Davis of Gainesville, Debra and Shawn Phelps of Gainesville; and grandchildren Jeremy Leonard, Britton Hacker, Josh Davis, Kayla Davis, Jake Wilson, Mariska Phelps, and Kathy Mattaliano.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Wayne Davis; brother, Kenneth Struble and sister, Vivian Robinson.

Pallbearers will be Jimmy Krahl, Steve Ward, Joe Banks, Marc Ward, Keith Griffith, and Ronnie Ward.

TERRY JOE THOMAS

Funeral services for Terry Joe Thomas, 62, of Gainesville are set for Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel with burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Family and friends will be officiating and the family will receive friends today, Jan. 25, 2010 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Terry was born on June 12, 1947 in Brady to Leonard and Faye Newman Thomas. He married Patsy Lee Tatsch on June 10, 1967 in Mason. Terry was employed by Gainesville Livestock Auction for almost 30 years. He was a Cattleman, Auctioneer and a Professional BS'er. He believed in God and family. He loved his wife, kids and especially his grandkids. He had many fond memories of time spent with his nieces, nephews and numerous friends.

Terry is survived by his wife, Patsy Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Scott Johnson of Ector; son and daughter-in-law, Terry (T.) and Terri Ann Thomas of Callisburg; grandchildren, Taylor, Montana and J. B. Johnson and Dylon and Reed Thomas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lynn and Reubin Ake of Pontotoc. Peggy and Skeeter Martin of Fort Worth and Sister Loretta Stahl of Austin; brother, Dean Thomas of Risen, Ark. and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bobby Thomas.

Pallbearers will be James (Redbone) Peyrot Jr., Scott Johnson, Milton Ward, Rex Maxwell, Donald Hobbs and Mackey Fraizer. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Thomas, Reubin Ake, Skeeter Martin, Larry Tatsch, James Lindemann, Peanut Bean, Randy Cook and Glenn McElreath.





CAROL KAY KIESEL

Memorial services for Carol Kay Kiesel, 63, of Gainesville are set for Tuesday January 26, 2010 at Whaley United Methodist Church, under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, with Pastor Jim Goodwin officiating.

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Kiesel passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010 at her residence.

Carol was born April 2, 1946 in Evansville, Ind. to Orvel and Jewell Stewart. She was a loving and caring wife to Paul Kiesel for 36 years, raising four children. She was a dedicated member of Whaley Church for 35 years serving most recently as chair of the Bereavement Committee as well as a member of the Administration Council and the Lamplighters Circle. She was a published author of three cookbooks with the most recent being, "Carol's Sugar Free Sweet Treats." She was the inspiration behind the local, "Bear Hugs" program of the Home Hospice of Cooke County, becoming the first seamstress volunteer and providing numerous keepsake bears to many bereaved families. She was recently elected president of a local book club.

Carol is survived by many loved ones including her husband, Paul Kiesel of the home; four children, April and Tim Ross of Longview, Paul David and Cheron Kiesel of Rogers, Ark., Lyndell and Christina Kiesel of Midwest City,Okla. and Michael and Cassie Kiesel of Midwest City, Okla.; thirteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Ronnie Stewart of Ada, Okla. and many nieces and nephews and cousins and friends.

Carol is preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Annette Schier.

Carol enjoyed devoting her time to whomever needed her that day. She lived her life wanting to understand the whole Bible and her life reflects that by the love, caring, and kindness that so many people received from her. She gladdened a lot of lives and will be forever missed.
