AZALEA FARQUHAR

Funeral services for Azalea Trilby Farquhar, 93, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Davis and Dr. Chuck Aaron officiating.  

Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Farquhar was born July 17, 1919, in Taylor.  

She passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in Gainesville.

Mrs. Farquhar influenced many young lives at the Gainesville State School where she taught arts and ceramics.  She was a member of Eastern Star, where she served as a Worthy Matron.  Also, Mrs. Farquhar was a pillar of the Soroptimist Club.  Whaley United Methodist Church was Mrs. Farquhar’s church home for 62 years, where she was also a member of United Methodist Women.  Later in life, she delivered for Meals on Wheels and volunteered with the “Time Out” program at Stanford House.

Survivors include son, Jim Farquhar and wife Cathy of Lake Kiowa; son, David Farquhar and partner George Schaumburg of Plano; grandson, Jason Farquhar; granddaughter, Misty Landers and husband Jeff; sister, Zella Abbate of Hutto; niece, Juanice Thiele of Thorndale; and niece, Terri Smith of Pflugerville.

Mrs. Farquhar was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Farquhar.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the “Time Out” Program at Stanford House and Whaley United Methodist Church.

COLBY PARSONS

We said goodbye to our beloved son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, Colby Parsons, on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013.

Services for Colby will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Larry Eberhart officiating.  

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

At 22 years old, Colby’s life came to an end as a result of a vehicle accident.

The youngest of five children, Colby was born April 23, 1990, to Robert and Sharon Parsons.  

He attended J.M. Lindsay Elementary School until 1999 when he transferred to Muenster ISD, where he graduated in 2008.  He was employed at Muenster Milling and Doc’s Bar and Grill in Muenster. In 2010, Colby was employed with Halliburton.

Survivors include his mother, Sharon Parsons Hess of Gainesville; brother and sister-in-law, Kevin and Shonna Parsons of Whitesboro; brother, Jeff Parsons of Whitesboro; brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Terria Parsons of Gainesville; sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly and Samuel York of Myra; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Colby was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Parsons; and nephew, Jonathan S. Parsons.

Pallbearers will be close friends.

STEPHEN LYNN WINKLER

SANGER — Stephen Lynn Winkler, 53, of Sanger, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1959, in Sacramento, Calif., to Charles Henry Winkler and Lucille Mae Brandenburg Winkler.

He married Susan Fortenberry on Feb. 25, 2001, and was a surveillance officer at WinStar Casino.

Visitation with family is set for 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at The Valley View United Methodist Church, 201 Church St. in Valley View.

Stephen is survived by his wife, Susan; daughter, Vanessa Winkler; in-laws, John and Betty Fortenberry; one grandson, Rylan; three sisters; and five brothers.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
