DAVID A. BAYER

MUENSTER — Mass of Christian Burial for David A. Bayer, age 63, of Muenster is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. Fr. Ken Robinson will celebrate the Mass.

Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Muenster. A Rosary/Vigil is set for 6 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the funeral home. Services are directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Muenster.

Mr. Bayer died in Dallas at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2010.

Born in Gainesville on July 29, 1946, the sixth of the eight children of Martin and Louise Walterscheid Bayer, David was raised on a farm near Muenster. He attended and graduated from Sacred Heart School. At an early age, he was drafted into the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Division, serving some two years in the Vietnam War in the capacity of squadron leader.

David was a lifetime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and sang in the choir for some time. After his tour in the army, David went back to school part time and farmed with his twin brother, Dale. David then took up carpentry, which he did off and on for a large part of his life. David went to work at Valenite around 1975 and worked there for approximately 23 years. While at Valenite he ran a farm and also operated a tree machine. David’s commitment to his children was evident by his work ethic and the tireless hours he spent working to raise his six children.

David had a great love for nature. He had planted many, many trees in the Cooke County area, several of which can be seen on the Sacred Heart grounds. He enjoyed sports and was a great supporter of the sports played by his children and grandchildren. He had also been involved with coaching little league baseball for several years. He had enjoyed fishing, hunting and just observing nature all his life. Prior to his mother being moved to a nursing home, David was devoted in caring for her for several years.

David was a great father, one that deeply cared for his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed!

Survivors include his mother, Louise Bayer of Muenster; daughters and spouses, Melanie and Doug Herr of Gainesville and Deann and Bob Tidwell of Gainesville; sons and spouses, Ryan Bayer of Muenster, Brandon and Holly Bayer of Lindsay, Matthew Bayer of Muenster and Michael Bayer of Muenster; sisters and spouses, Patricia and Ken Otto of Tulsa, Okla. and Nelda Bayer and special friend Lynn Van Meter of Dallas; brothers and spouses, Dale and Sylvia Bayer of Gainesville, Don and Barbara Bayer of Waco, Tom and Joyce Bayer of Muenster and Bill and Annette Bayer of Muenster; long-time companion, Janice Bayer of Muenster and grandchildren, Hannah Bayer; Chandler, Landrie, and Addison Herr; Macy and Maverick Bayer; and Halston Tidwell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Bayer and brother, Ernest Bayer.

Pallbearers are Wayne Grewing, Wayne Wimmer, Joel Bayer, Neil Bayer, Adam Bayer and Matthew Grewing.

Honorary Pallbearers are grandchildren, Hannah Bayer, Chandler Herr, Landrie Herr, Addison Herr, Macy Bayer and Maverick Bayer.

The family requests memorials be made to: Sacred Heart Trust Fund or The Muenster Youth Support Group.

JAMES “JIM” OLSON

Memorial services for James “Jim” Olson, 61, of Valley View are set for 2 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 at Clement-Keel Chapel with Mr. Gene Shuler officiating. Services are under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home.

Mr. James “Jim” Olson died March 4, 1010 at North Texas Medical Center.

He was born Oct. 20, 1948 in Mason City, Ohio to Michael and Dorothy (Muller) Olson. He married Toni L. Andre on Oct. 14, 1988 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Mr. Olson was a Quality Control Analyst for 21st Century Insurance. He was also learning to work on antique clocks. He loved to fish and was a Corvette enthusiast.

Survivors include his spouse, Toni L. Olson of Valley View and his beloved dogs, George, Emma and Gracie.
