LEWIS CROCKER
A memorial service for Lewis Crocker, 84, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church with Pastor Scott Sundbye officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Crocker passed away Jan. 2, 2013, in Muenster.
He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Corcoran, Calif., to Ervin Lewis and Jennie Belle Crocker.
Mr. Crocker married Norma Hegdahl in Long Beach, Calif., on Dec. 5, 1952. He retired as a machinist from Swanson-Erie in Anaheim, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Crocker moved to Gainesville in 2000. In his free time, Mr. Crocker enjoyed gunsmithing and photography. He showed dogs and horses and had a National Champion Appaloosa.
Survivors include daughter, Kari O’Dell and husband Milton of Gainesville; grandson, Christopher O’Dell of Gainesville; and nephew, Bill Ross and wife, Irene.
He was preceded in death by his wife; and sister, Mildred Ross.

JOSEPH LAWRENCE SCHMIDLKOFER
LINDSAY — A Mass of Christian burial for Joseph Lawrence (Joe L.) Schmidlkofer, 80, of Lindsay, is set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lindsay with the Rev. Raymond McDaniel officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Lindsay under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home in Gainesville.
The rosary will be held Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.
Joseph passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, in Sherman.
Joseph was born in Lindsay on July 24, 1932, to John Clement and Catherine Angerer Schmidlkofer.
Joseph attended Lindsay School. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in March 1951, and served three years in the 3rd Marine Division. He spent 13 months in combat in Korea. He received two Purple Hearts, a Presidental Unit Citation and The Korean Service Medal. He reached the rank of sergeant.
Joseph married Viola Mae Flusche on July 13, 1957, in Decatur.
Joseph retired from National Supply division of Armco Steel Inc. after 33 years. After retirement from Armco he continued his farming and construction business.
Joseph always loved children and enjoyed teaching them how to work and play. Joseph was blessed with seven children; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Viola of Lindsay; his children and their spouses, Judy and David Krahl of Lindsay, Stephen Schmidlkofer of Valley View, Janet and Jackie Moss of Sadler, Victor Schmidlkofer of Perry, Okla., and Joan and David Deckard of Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by two brothers, Herbert Schmidlkofer of Lindsay and Leroy Schmidlkofer of Gainesville; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents; by two of his daughters, Joyce Schmidlkofer Knabe and Julia Schmidlkofer; and one grandson, Lucas Krahl.
He was also preceded in death by brothers, Frankie and George Schmidlkofer; and sisters, Marie Fuhrmann and Rosalie Reiter.

CLINTON EUGENE SMITH
Clinton Eugene Smith, 64, died unexpectedly on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the North Texas Medical Center.
He was born on Sept. 29, 1948, in Gainesville, the son of Cleamon E. and Dollie Mae Turnham Smith.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Hubert Wright officiating and Dr. Eddie Chennault assisting.
A visitation was held at the funeral home 6 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012.
Clinton graduated from Gainesville High School in 1967. He worked for Weber Aircraft of Gainesville for 45 years. He was a genuinely above exceptional human being who loved his family dearly. He was willing to help anyone out and put everyone before himself. He will be greatly missed from all those that came to know him and all the lives that he had touched. He loved his Gainesville sports, Cowboys, and his Texas Longhorns. He loved to fish. He never liked to be away from his home in Gainesville for very long. He loved reading his daily Fort Worth Star-Telegram every morning, his Diet Cokes, cookies, and he never used a straw. He coached baseball, basketball, and soccer. He was always upbeat and proud to be a Smith and a Texan.
Clinton is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Diane (Meyers) Smith; his son, Chad E. Smith and his wife Traci of Keller; his daughter, Christy Stenger and her husband Robert Sr. of Manassas, Va.; grandchildren, Robert, Christopher and Rebecca Stenger, Alexander and Brianna Wagner and Hayden and Nolan Smith; sister, Cindy Shaw and her husband David of Denison; brother, Mark A. Smith and his wife Kim of Fort Worth; Taryn and Tyler Clinton Smith; and many other nieces and nephews; and his beloved pet, Schnauzer Gizmo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Cleta Smith-Kish.
Pallbearers were Ronald Martin, Gary Martin, Ricky Huddleston, Danny Kretzschmar, Jeff Mills and Larry Browning. Honorary pallbearers were Robert Stenger, Christopher Stenger and Hayden Smith.
A memorial fund has been set up at Landmark Bank under “Clinton Eugene Smith Memorial Fund.”

A Mass of Christian burial for Vicky Morrow, 64, is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at Christ the King Catholic Church in Dallas.
Graveside services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at St. Peter's Cemetery in Lindsay under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville.
Mrs. Morrow died Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Denton Regional Medical Center.
Survivors include husband, Craig Morrow of Gainesville; and sons, Luke Morrow of Houston and Nicholas Morrow of Fort Worth.

WHITESBORO — Funeral services for Joyce Ann Stearns, 57, of Whitesboro, are set for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Chapel.

Mrs. Stearns died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013, in Whitesboro.
She was born Dec. 26,1955, in Farmington, Mo.

BILLY EDWIN BENTLEY
POTTSBORO — Billy Edwin Bentley, 60, of Pottsboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2012, at his residence after a long struggle with Type 1 (childhood) diabetes.
He was born Feb. 20, 1952, in Muenster to William Weldon and Nellie Hester (Roberson) Bentley. Billy had worked as a carpet installer. He loved to hunt.
Survivors of Billy Bentley include his sister, Nita Mercer of Pottsboro; nephew, Russell Berry of Dallas; niece, Julia Berry of Lubbock; daughter, Clarissa Hess of Muenster; and grandchildren, Hayley, Kylie and Mikinzie Hess of Muenster.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
