— ANGELA HERMINIA GARCIA ANTONETTI

DALLAS — Angela Herminia Garcia Antonetti passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, surrounded by her loved ones.

She was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Camaguey, Cuba to parents Maria Dolores Escrich and Francisco Garcia.

She married Dr. Alfredo Antonetti on June 27, 1962, and emigrated with him to the U.S.A. later that year, making a new home first in Wichita Falls and later in Muenster, until their move to Dallas in 2009.

Angela was preceded in death by her parents; and her oldest sister, Hilda Montesino.

She is survived by her husband of 50-plus years and his three sons, whom she raised as her own: Alfredo and his wife Judy of Irving, and sons Alfred, Billy and Robert and grandchildren Alfred, Robert, Steve, and Bo; Roberto and wife Tamara of Midlothian and son Gregory; and Emilio and wife Lucy of Pensacola, Fla., and children Andrew and Ana. She is also survived by her sister Bertha Garcia of Miami, Fla.; her niece, Lourdes Kuykendall and her husband Bob of Dallas and children Robert and Brittany; and her nephew, Orlando Montesino of Houston and his children Michael, Mark, and David, and grandson Luke.

Angela grew up in Camaguey, Cuba and attended the Teresianas Sisters Parochial Elementary school, finishing in the Larrauri Sisters Elementary School. She and her family moved to Havana, where she graduated high school from Baldor Academy. She graduated from the University of Havana with honors with a degree in public accounting. Both during high school and college, Angela and her two sisters were excellent players on their schools’ basketball teams and filled three of the five starter positions on the University of Havana Varsity roster. Following graduation from college, she worked as an accountant at El Encanto, a fashionable department store in Havana.

After settling in Muenster, she diligently managed her husband's county-wide medical practice. She loved spending time at their Guarina Horse Ranch, home of their prize-winning Appaloosa horses and other farm animals dear to her. Whether working around the house or going to a play in Dallas, she took great pleasure in her simple, yet fashionable attire. She was a passionate Dallas Cowboy fan, who was quite comfortable wearing blue jeans with her fur stole to their games. Angela always took the time to be present at loved ones' special occasions, such as graduations, weddings, dance recitals, and sporting events.

She will also be remembered for her long-time dedication to her volunteer and fundraising work in Muenster and Gainesville, especially for Cooke County Home Hospice, Red Hats Society, the Gainesville Heritage Society, Gainesville Morton Museum and Garden Club.

Like her own mother before her, she truly was a lady who led by example, had a tremendous zest for life and showed us all how to face everything that life throws at us with unwavering courage, faith, and the utmost class, thus earning her the respect of the many whose lives she touched.

A memorial service to celebrate Angela's life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Donnelly’s Colonial Funeral Home located at 606 W. Airport Frwy. (Hwy 183) in Irving beginning at 4:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Angela's name to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 714 N. Main St., Muenster TX 76252.

LORETTA ALEXANDER

Funeral services for Loretta Alexander, 94, who passed away on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at age 94, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville with burial to follow in Era Cemetery.

She was born near Graham on Feb. 26, 1918, to John and Breckie Ellen Couger.

She had six brothers, including Gene, John Vernon, Leroy, Frank, Bill and Rupert. Loretta graduated from Graham High School. She worked during World War II for Standard Oil, and was active in the Business and Professional Women’s Club in Gainesville.

In 1948, Loretta married Max Kenneth Alexander of Era, a decorated veteran of World War II, who preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2001. Loretta and Kenneth were engaged in farming and ranching in the Era community for many years where both were involved in civic and community affairs including the Era Community Club and the Era Methodist Church.

In recent years, Loretta has resided in Wheeler House in Gainesville and the Willow Bend Assisted Care Community in Denton.

She is survived by sisters-in-law, Helen Roberson of Denton, Reba Handwerk of Amelia, Va., Jane Alexander of Valley View and Mary Alexander of Gainesville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

DAVID JOE VanHOOZEN

April 7, 1956 - January 7, 2013

David Joe VanHoozen went to be with the Lord on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, with his wife and friends by his side.

David loved his family, going to church, music and fishing. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and had several different occupations including the oil field and the casino, and was a CNA. David was such a loving and caring person that he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and George VanHoozen; sisters, Carol, Linda and Lenna; brother, George (Junior).

Survivors include wife, Natividad VanHoozen; daughter, Millie VanHoozen; son, Jason VanHoozen and wife Laura; sisters, Judy Conner, Neva Noggler, Shirley Sinclair and Joyce Banks; brothers, Roy VanHoozen, Robert VanHoozen and James VanHoozen; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville under the direction of Chism-Smith Funeral Home in Irving.
