EARL EUGENE SMITH, JR.
Funeral services for Earl Eugene Smith, Jr., loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at Harvey Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Jordon Johnson, church pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Grandsons Shadd McKinney, Andrew McKinney, Micah McKinney, Jason Smith, Justin Smith, Jerry Rhodes and Josh Rhodes will be pallbearers.
Visitation is set for 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at the church before service time.
Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
Earl was born June 23, 1927, in Callisburg.
He died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Senior Care Health and Rehab in Decatur.
He married Betty Jean Hackler on Jan. 30, 1951, in Gainesville. Earl was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked for the Gainesville ISD as a custodian until retiring. Mr. Smith was a faithful member of Harvey Street Baptist Church, where he served as their oldest deacon. He had received a plaque from the church for 21 years of service.
Earl E. Smith, Jr. is survived by a son, Mark D. Smith and wife Martha of Roanoke; daughters, Susie Smith McKinney and husband J.T. of Decatur and Terrie Smith Barker and husband Shelly of Thackerville; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude and Earl E. Smith, Sr.; wife, Betty Jean Smith; and a sister, Dorothy Smith Beck.

Ms. Bedowitz died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital in Henderson, Nev.
She was born Nov. 22, 1944, in Dallas.

Mr. Crook died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Whitesboro Health and Rehab Center.
He was born on June 29, 1926, in Hagerman.
