EARLE SCRIBNER
Funeral services for Earle Scribner, 93, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at the Commerce Street Church of Christ with Ronnie Quaid officiating.
Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. Scribner passed away at North Texas Medical Center on Monday Aug. 3, 2009. Services are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mr. Scribner was born on Feb. 26, 1916 in Avery, Miss., to Felix and Annie Scribner. Mr. Scribner worked for 20 years at the Brown Motor Company in the service department. He taught Auto Mechanics classes at North Central Texas College in Gainesville until he retired. He was a member and an elder at the Hillcrest Church of Christ for twenty years. He loved to preach on Sundays at the Renaissance Nursing Home until his eye sight failed, then he helped out with the singing.
Mr. Scribner is survived by his wife, Aleta Scribner, sons, James and his wife Laura Scribner, Clifton and his wife Juanita Scribner; step-sons, Morris Morgan, John Morgan, and Boyce Morgan; step-daughter Shannon Durham; four grandchildren David Scribner, Steve Scribner, Ken Scribner, Mike Scribner and Shauna Scribner and 11 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Scribner was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and wife, Vera Lee Scribner, for 59 years.
Visitation is set for Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 from 6 to 7 at the Funeral home.

VIOLA MAE WEAVER
Graveside services for Viola Mae Weaver, 99, of Gainesville, are set for 11 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at the Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jim Goodwin officiating.
A visitation will be held from 7-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Ms. Weaver died Aug. 3, 2009 in Henrietta.
Ms. Weaver was born Feb. 27, 1910 in Prague, Okla., to Walter Winfield and Tessie Rose Soukup Strong. She married Leroy “Snip” Weaver in Duncan, Okla., on March 28, 1929. She was a long time member of Whaley United Methodist Church and she loved to cook. Ms. Weaver was a clerk at the Streets Pharmacy for many years.
She is survived by her grandson Jim and his wife Susan Weaver of Dean, great grandchildren Jake Weaver of Dean, Alex and wife Heather Weaver of Midland, and Nick Weaver of Austin, great-great granddaughters Olivia and Alexis Weaver of Midland, and her brother Barney Strong. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded by her parents, her husband, her son Donald Joe Weaver, her brothers Homer, Jack, Jake, and Bob Strong and Cecil Lewis.

HAROLD “POSSUM” CURNUTT
WHITESBORO — Funeral services Harold “Possum” Curnutt, 81, formerly of Blessing, are set for 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Mike Bentley and Raymond Wiseman officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at the funeral home.
Mr. Harold Curnutt died on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009 at Baylor Heart Hospital in Plano, Texas.
He was born Dec. 27, 1927 in Canadian to Columbus and Florance (Adcock) Curnutt. Harold married Betty Hunt on Feb. 27, 1978 in San Antonio.
Survivors include his wife, Betty (Hunt) Curnutt; 2 sons, Richard and, wife, Lisa Curnutt of Shreveport, La., Thomas and, wife, Laura Curnutt of Blessing; step-son, Carroll Bishop of Whitesboro; step-daughter, Catherine Gennett of Clay Center, Kan.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Scales of Clovis, N.M.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus and Florance Curnutt; five brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers are Martin Meyers, Ron Trammell, David Cox, Bill Dorries, Mike Rankin, and Raymond Wiseman.

DOROTHA EDWARDS
FORT WORTH — Dorotha Edwards, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 at the age of 76 surrounded by her family.
Celebration Of Life: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Brown, Owens & Brumley's Joe B. Brown Memorial Chapel.
Dorotha was born on January 4, 1933 to the late William Hugh and Opal Hogan in Gainesville, Tx. She married Ross Pope and of that union they had a daughter, Brenda. She later moved to Wichita Falls in 1956 and married Bo Edwards. They operated Pokey's Lounge for many years and later retired to a farm in Byers.
Dorotha is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Sharon Smith and brothers, Wayne Hogan, Weldon Hogan, Raymond Hogan and David Hogan.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda Wheeler and husband Jeff; sisters, Wanda Paschal, Glenda Pryor and Beverly Hogan; brother, James Hogan; grandchildren, Shane Wheeler, Shannon Howe and Brandon Wheeler; Ten great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
