J.G. Whisnand, 93, of College Station passed away Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 and leaves behind a lineage of faith in Jesus including his wife of 65 years, Lorna Whisnand. Together they lived a life full of love and faithfulness, honoring God by the conduct of their marriage.
Born Sept. 13, 1920 in Ryan, Okla., he was the son of Odie Emanuel and Linnie Whisnand. He proudly served his country as a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II. He graduated in 1946 from North Texas State University with a B.S. in Economics and Government and was named to “Who’s Who” Among American Universities & Colleges. Along with his father, he was a prominent business and civic leader throughout a long and distinguished professional career that spanned everything from real estate to law enforcement. Along with many professional organizations, he proudly served as an elder at Hillcrest Church of Christ in Gainesville.
J.G. retired in 1987 and moved to College Station in 1996. He worshiped at the A&M Church of Christ and remained busy as an “economist & story-teller,” proudly relating tales about his loved ones to “anyone.” He was a proud son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He cherished the opportunity to share a cup of coffee and his faith in Jesus with those he encountered.
Besides his bride, survivors include his son, Galen Whisnand and wife, Sharon, of Austin and daughter, Dana Grove and husband, Foree, of College Station. He is known as “PaPa” by his five grandchildren and five great-grandsons, David and Sarah Grove and sons, Zachary, Montana and Stephen of New Braunfels; Stephen and Brianne Grove and son, Lincoln of College Station; Deborah Grove Donaldson and son, Klayton Trice of Austin; Zachary and Myra Whisnand of Austin and Maxwell Whisnand of Toronto, Ontario.
A private family service will be held at Hillier Funeral Home in Bryan, before his burial in the Whisnand family plot at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville.

Tom Jarecki went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 in Denton.
A resident of Gainesville, he was born Oct. 18, 1948. Raised in Friona he was active in the outdoors and a great supporter of the Make a Wish Foundation. He was employed at Lake Kiowa Property Owners of Gainesville.
Tom is survived by his wife of 39 years, Penny Jarecki; daughter, Brooke Jarecki, of Stephenville; son, Whitt Jarecki of Gainesville; and grandson, Ty of Gainesville.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at First Baptist Church – Gainesville, with Jerry Huggins officiating.

MYRTLE ROSE STEWART
VALLEY VIEW — Funeral services for Myrtle Rose Stewart, 89, of Valley View are set for 2 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 at the Pioneer Valley Baptist Church with Bro. Chris Watson officiating with burial to follow in the New Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 at the funeral home.
Myrtle passed away on Dec. 17, 2013 in Gainesville.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1924 in Alamoosa, Colo. to Vance and Pearl Fountain Goff. She was a secretary of the United Methodist Church in Farmington, N.M.
Myrtle is survived by daughters, Karen Aycox of Valley View, Sharon Stout of Valley View and David Stewart of Lake Worth.
She was preceded in death by Marion Goff, Maurice Goff and Mona Heath.

MUENSTER -- Memorial services for Wendell Richey, 76, of Muenster are set for 3 p.m. Friday Dec. 20, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Muenster with Rev. Ralph Gourley officiating.
Visitation is set for Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013 from 7 to 9 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Muenster.
Mr. Richey died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 in Denton.
He was born Dec. 20, 1936 in Marysville.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Richey of Muenster; children, Craig Richey, Todd Richey, Robyn Walterscheid, Stephanie Felderhoff and Melanie Hesse; siblings, Deanna Dean and Linda Muller; 18 grandchildren; and three great-granchildren.

WHITESBORO — Funeral services for Deborah Lynn Boatwright, 47, will be held Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Glen Blackmon officiating.
Burial will follow in Cottage Hill Cemetery in Celina.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Deborah died Monday, Dec. 16, 2013 in Denton.
She was born on Nov. 27, 1966 in McKinney.
Survivors include children, Ian Oden, Elisah Joe Billy and Aimee D. Billy; and mother Kathy Rucker.
