A funeral mass for Christopher John Metzler, 51, are set for Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Fr. Phillip Petta officating with interment to follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
A rosary will be recited on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, with visitation to follow at St. Peter's Church at 7 p.m.
Chris was born on April 5, 1962, in Gainesville, to Raymond “Bud” and Helen Corcoran Metzler.
Chris married Brenda Neu on June 19, 1982. He enjoyed farming, fishing, wood working and using his hands to complete many tasks.
Chris is survived by his wife, Brenda Metzler; children, Jason, Nichole and Collin Metzler; parents, Raymond “Bud” and Helen Metzler; sister, Sharon Felderhoff and husband Ronnie; brothers, Karl Metzler and wife Kathy, Jeff Metzler and wife Karen and Brad Metzler and wife Ronda; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Phillip and Frances Metzler and John “Mutt” and Catherine Corcoran.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Saint Peter's Parish restoration fund.

MYRTLE JOAN SALSMAN
CALLISBURG — Graveside services for Myrtle Joan Salsman 70, of Callisburg, are set for Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at 2 p.m. at New Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Boone officating under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Myrtle passed away on Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, at her home.
Myrtle was born on Aug. 19, 1943, in Camus, Wash., to John Henry and Johnnie D. Harper Hewitt.
Myrtle was a homemaker and loved her family and friends with all her heart. She was a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.
Myrtle is survived by sons, John Gordon Salsman and wife Debra, Monroe Salsman and wife Rosina and Dwayne Salsman and daughter Rene' Cooper; grandchildren, Bill, John Evan, Michael, Carissa, Kassie, Skyer, Katelyn, Loni, Willie and Alissa; and great-grandchildren, Landon, Hannah, Annalisa and Haidynn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Willie” Salsman; and her parents.

WELDON THURMAN SCIVALLY
Funeral services for Weldon Thurman Scivally, 81, of Gainesville, are set for 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, at the First Baptist Church of Gainesville with Dr. Bennie Slack officiating and Johnny Leftwich and Hank Lovejoy assisting.
Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery in Marietta, Okla.
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Thurman passed away from this life on the 7th of November, 2013, at his residence at the age of 81 years.
He is survived by the love of his life Doris Ann Langston Scivally. They were married Jan. 19, 1951, in Ardmore, Okla.
Born on June 29, 1932, Thurman was the eldest living son of Ethyl Bond and M.C. Scivally. He was born and reared in Thackerville, Okla., where he excelled in basketball. He graduated from Thackerville High School and Cooke County College.
In 1958, Thurman opened the first Scivally’s Grocery on East Highway 82. His store was known for wonderful meat, great service and credit back in the day before credit cards. His son Dale Scivally now runs this store. In 1987, Thurman then purchased his second Scivally’s Grocery on California St. and managed it until his health failed some six years ago.
Thurman was one of five sons born to Ethel and M.C. Scivally. He was preceded in death by his baby brother Vernon in 1932, and his brother Glenn in 2012.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Lavern and Rosalind Scivally of Haltom City; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Linda Scivally of Marietta, Okla.; and sister-in-law, Kathye Scivally of Gainesville.
Thurman and Ann raised five children in Gainesville and is survived by all: Dale and his wife Jan Scivally of Marietta, Okla.; Carol Ann and her husband James Herman of Marietta, Okla.; Janet and her husband David Copeland of Midland; daughter, Suzy Scivally of Lewisville; daughter, Sandy and her husband Craig Carpenter of Lindsay. He is also survived by12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Thurman Scivally served faithfully at the First Baptist Church until his health failed. He served two terms on the board of directors of Affiliated Foods in Keller and served one term as a Gainesville city councilman. He was also a long-term member of the Kiwanis Club.

SAINT JO — Funeral services for Vernie McWhirter, 84, of Saint Jo, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Saint Jo with the Rev. William A. “Sonny” Steed and the Rev. Jeff Roe officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain Park Cemetery in Saint Jo under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Saint Jo.
Mr. McWhirter died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, in Denton.
He was born Dec. 19, 1928, in Roby.
Survivors include wife, Laura McWhirter of Saint Jo, children, Vicky Prebilsky, Alisa Raney, Luanne Coffee and Ronald McWhirter; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
