RALPH B. COLE

Funeral services for Ralph B. Cole, 78, will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Gainesville with the Rev. Scott Sundbye officiating.

Interment will follow at Nelson Grove Cemetery in Cooke County.

Services are under the direction of Meador Clement-Keel Funeral Home in Gainesville.

There will be no formal visitation.

Mr. Cole passed away on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in Denton at Integrity Transitional Hospital (Seasons Hospice Unit.)

Born July 27, 1934, in Fort Worth, he was a 1951 graduate of Gainesville High school and Texas A & M University in 1956. He was in the U.S. Army airborne in 1957 and was editor of The Hondo Anvil Herald in 1956-57, The Alice News 1957-59 and was city editor of the Gainesville Daily Register from 1959-61, when he reentered the U.S. Army a commanding officer of the Gainesville National Guard Unit.

He returned to the Gainesville Daily Register in 1961 as city and farm editor of the local newspaper. In 1969, he was named an editor with The Associated Press in Oklahoma City, where he covered the House of Representatives.

He was publisher of the Sanger Courier and the Pilot Point Signal for several years before joining the Postal Service in 1978 as a rural letter carrier. He retired from the Postal Service in 1996 in Sanger.

He was a member of the Sanger Independent School District Board of Trustees. He served as mayor of Sanger after leaving the board of trustees from 1976 to 84. Ralph married Carole D. Sluder Gonzilas on August 9, 1993, in Gainesville, and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Melissa Henson and husband Edward of Plano; a son, Thomas Edward Cole and wife Tina of Azle; sister, Eva Lela King and brother, Dr. James R. Cole of Gainesville; stepsons, Jimmy Gonzilas and Michael Gonzilas of Gainesville; several nieces and nephews; and grandchildren, Cole, Marshall and Tyler Henson and Annie Cole.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Thomas and Lonnie L. Cole; and wife, Carole D. Cole.

His grandsons and stepson will serve as pallbearers.

RUBY I. SMITH

Funeral services for Ruby Imogene Smith, 85, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Meador Clement-Keel Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville.

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Collinsville.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the funeral home.

Ruby passed away on Oct. 12, 2012, at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.

Ruby was born on Feb. 8, 1927, in Gainesville to William (Willie) and Cora Turner.

She devoted her life to her children and grandchildren, and she was a homemaker and loved to sew quilts and read.

Survivors include her daughters, Glenda Smith of Gainesville and Linda Alexander and husband Larry of Cleburne; sons, David Smith and wife Rosie of Columbus, Ind., Glen Smith of Gainesville, Charles Smith of Lewisville and Johnny Smith of Gainesville; a brother, John Frank Turner of Whitesboro; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Cora Turner; two infant children; two brothers, Ezra Turner and Jim Turner; and three sisters, Dorothy Overton, Pansey Eaton and Maybell Ward.

DORIS NELL THOMISON

Graveside services for Doris Nell Thomison, 74, of Gainesville, are set for 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the New Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Jordon Johnson officiating.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Doris was born on June 17, 1938, in Marysville to Lester Clyde and Rose Allen Cravens Sawyer.

Doris married Leon Thomison on Aug. 30, 1954, in Denton and for many years they owned and operated Leon's Landscaping. She enjoyed gardening, was a avid bingo player but most of all she loved her family.

Doris is survived by her sons, James Leon Thomison of Orlando, Fla., Billy Wayne Thomison of Hurst, Danny Ray Thomison of Gainesville and Darell Glen Thomison of Corsicana; and daughters, Donna Ray Braudaway of Gainesville and Sharon Gayle Roach of Corsicana; 14 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Leon Thomison; and great granddaughter Kayla L Brock.

ROY LYNN HUDDLESTON

LAKE KIOWA — Funeral services for Roy Lynn Huddleston, 85, of Lake Kiowa, are set for 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at the Collinsville Church of Christ with Scott Sides officiating.

Burial will follow the service at Collinsville Cemetery under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.

Mr. Huddleston died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012.

He was born on Sept. 29, 1927, in Knippa.

Survivors include his wife, Icey; children, Bill Huddleston of Valencia, Calif., Charles Huddleston of Lake Kiowa, Adell Thomson of Gainesville and Linda Miyashita of Nagano, Japan; three sisters, Net Ollre of Leakey and Ruby Lee Brigman and Verian Bailey of Uvalde; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation is set for 4:30 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.

KENNETH R. COUCH

Kenneth R. Couch, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, with his family by his side after battling complications from diabetes.

He was born on April 18, 1933, in Valley View. Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Jane Ann Couch-Wisdom of Plano and his son, Thomas R. Couch of Tracy, Calif.

Granddad is survived by his grandchildren, Madison Ann Wisdom and Colin James Wisdom, both of College Station; and his sister, Barbara Turner of Granbury.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Mildred Seyler.

Kenneth was an oilman who received his degree in geology from the University of Oklahoma in 1958.

A man of science, Kenneth donated his body to the Southwestern School of Medicine in Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the school in his name.
