Memorial services for Carol Ann Martin Pearce, 72, of Gainesville, are set for 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at the First Methodist Church of Gainesville with the Rev. Don Yeager officiating under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.

Carol Ann completed her final journey to the Lord on Sept. 26, 2012.

Carol was born on July 25, 1940, in Oshkosh, Wisc., to Carlton and Eleanor Bakken Martin.

Carol worked for Los Calinas in Dallas and Texas Women's University. She was a active member of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville where she enjoyed Bible study, serving communion and assisting with Sunday School. Carol enjoyed her retirement with scrapbooking, gardening, raising cows, avid photography and living in the country. Carol lived her faith and will be missed by all. She was a kind and generous soul.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, H. John Pearce; sons, Brian and loving friend Amy Shockley and Eric and loving friend Erin Cummins; granddaughter, Harley Allison; sister, Marian Benz; and brother, David Martin and his wife Patricia; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, additional family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Gene Pearce.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville or Noah's Ark.

BOBBY PAUL PRESLEY

FORESTBURG — A memorial service for Bobby Paul Presley, 55, of Forestburg is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Ronnie Blankenship officiating.  

Services under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Presley passed away Sept. 26, 2012, in Muenster.

Mr. Presley was born Aug. 5, 1957, in Loma Linda, Calif., to Bob and Callie Presley.

Survivors include son, Zac Presley of Lewisville; daughter, Rebecca Presley Lyons of Lake Kiowa; grandsons, Austin Lovelace and Matthew Lyons; and sister, Georgette Whittaker of Forestburg.

Mr. Presley was preceded in death by wife, Tina Robinson Presley; his parents; and brothers, Randy Presley and Ricky Presley.

WELNA ODELL ACKER

VALLEY VIEW — Loving mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother Welna Odell Acker, 98, of Valley View, passed away Friday, Sept. 28, 2012, at her residence.  

She was born Feb. 2, 1914, in Myra to Andrew J. and Mattie (Meads) Higgins.  

Welna Odell married William Holman Acker on June 10, 1930, in Marietta, Okla.  

Mrs. Acker had worked at Bomber Bait and was a seamstress for the Gainesville Circus, sewing costumes for circus performers.  Odell's family came first in her life but she was a generous person to anyone who had a need.  She loved working in her yard and in her garden, often sharing produce with neighbors and friends.  Mrs. Acker was loved by all and will be truly missed.

Graveside services for Odell Acker will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Fairview Cemetery.

Mrs. Acker is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and MariLee Acker of Valley View; grandchildren, Sherri Kemp of Lewisville and Terry Wayne Acker and his wife, Tammie of Saginaw; great-grandchildren, Kristin Hazelton of Saginaw, Kayla Renee Niblett of Saginaw and Britany Nicole Kemp of Lewisville; five great-great-grandchildren; one nephew; and two nieces.  

She is preceded in death by her husband and parents.

Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.
