CHRISTINE AKINS

Funeral services for Christine Akins are scheduled for 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Meador-Clement-Keel Chapel with David Gray, pastor of Hillcrest Church of Christ, officiating.    

Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery.  

David Anders, Britt Hodges, Kenneth Hodges, Josh Jones, Ethan Hodges and Ryan Hodges will be pallbearers.  

Visitation will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, before the service.  

Mrs. Akins passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at her home in Lewisville.

Christine was born Feb. 24, 1923, in Gilmer, the daughter of Tolbert Lee and Eva Vera (Bowins) Cox.  

She married Lonnie Akins on July 4, 1942, in Van. Mrs. Akins loved the Cowboys, Mavericks and Rangers and enjoyed fishing and cooking.  She was a member of Commerce Street Church of Christ.

Survivors of Christine Akins include her daughter, Darlene Dawson of Katy; granddaughter, Jenny Hodges and husband Britt of Carrollton; great-grandsons, Ethan Hodges and Ryan Hodges; and many close friends and extended family members.    

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Johnny Akins; two sisters; and two brothers.

Services are under the direction of Meador-Clement-Keel Funeral Home.

JOHN DEE HOLT

Funeral services for John Dee Holt, 86, of Gainesville, are set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with the Rev. Don Westbrook and Rev. Eddie Chennault officiating.  

Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Cemetery in Sherman under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.

Mr. Holt died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, in Gainesville.

He was born on Nov. 22, 1926, in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Jackie Holt of Gainesville; children, Beverly Green of Sherman, Barbara Boland of Sherman and Becky Krueger of Corinth; sister, Betty Holt of Gainesville; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

MAMIE WALLIS MIZE

GORDONVILLE — Memorial services for Mamie Mize, 89, of Gordonville, are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Willis Church of Christ in Willis, Okla., with James Snyder officiating.

Mrs. Mize died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013, at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman.  

She was born March 3, 1923, in Marshall County, Okla.

Survivors include children, Diane Sidwell and Lisa Fisher of Gainesville and Debra Hobin of Winnsboro; brother, Bill Wallis of Tyler; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
