LENORA MAE CONWAY

Funeral services for Lenora Mae Conaway of Gainesville will be held at George J. Carroll Funeral Home Monday, Sept.28, 2009 at 10 a.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Gene Gordon of Callisburg United Methodist Church with Gaither Day assisting. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville.

Mrs. Conaway passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009 at Pecan Tree Rehab and Health Center in Gainesville surrounded by her family, friends and dedicated staff at the Pecan Tree Center. The Pecan Tree Center became her second home as she loved the staff and residents, and enjoyed the activities that were provided. She was an inspiration and blessing to all who knew her.

Lenora Mae was born July 10, 1923 in Collinsville to Warden and Anna Belle Cox Roberts. She married the love of her life Lee Roy Conaway on June 7, 1941 and they devoted 47 wonderful years to each other and now they are reunited in heaven for eternity. The two resided in the Callisburg area for the duration of their life together. She was a homemaker who loved to cook, sew and take care of her family. She devoted her life to her husband, children grandchildren, friends, church, and her lord and savior. She was a member of the Callisburg United Methodist Church and always enjoyed being the song leader and singing in the choir.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Maxey and Gayle Conaway of Bokchito, Okla.,: their son and daughter-in-law, Curtis and Carol Conaway of Lindsay; their family, Allison, Michael, Emily and Kevin and a daughter, Lisa Wolf of Sanger and her daughter, Kendal; daughter, Juanell Branyan of Callisburg; her daughters and sons-in-law, Juanette and Jeff Lobaugh of Emory; their family, Shelby, Emily, and Justin; Charlotte and Brad Williams of Callisburg and their family, Zachary, Eric, Ethan, and Kyle; her sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Janice Brewer of Gainesville and their daughter, Shelby; Tim and Michelle Brewer of Lindsay and their family, Kayla, Preston and Addison; Dusty and Ashley Brewer of Cedar Park and their son, Hudson; daughters and son-in-law. Barbara and Doyle Smith of Callisburg and their sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Samantha Smith of Mead, Okla. and their son, Riley; Mike and Jodie Smith of Callisburg and their family, Madelyn and Austin.

Lenora is survived by brothers and sisters which include: Rachelle Norman of Collinsville; Windell Roberts of Carrollton; Virginia and Ken Moore of San Antonio; Marion and Jan Roberts of Round Rock; Patsy Rhoades of Jimtown Rd., Okla.; Eugene and Cindy Roberts of Whitesboro; Robby and B.C. Lemons of Gainesville; Bob and Geneva Roberts of Denison; brother-n-law and sister-in-law, Boyd and Dana Conaway of Sadler; Joyce and Marvin Joiner of Denton and Alden Dove of Collinsville and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Conaway; parents, Warden and Anna Belle Roberts; brother, J.A. Roberts; granddaughter, Shelly Smith and great-granddaughter, Krista Brewer; brothers-in-law, J.W. Norman and Lee Rhoades; sister-in-law, Cleta Dove; nephew, Jimmy Conaway and great-nephew Andrew Hollandsworth.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers which include: Curtis Conaway, Brad Williams, Jeff Lobaugh, Justin Brewer, Tim Brewer, Dusty Brewer, Brad Smith and Mike Smith.

Visitation will be held at George J. Carroll Funeral Home on Sunday, Sept.27, 2009 at 6 p.m.





PAUL RAYMOND BOAZ

Paul Raymond Boaz passed away Friday, Sept. 25, 2009. He may be gone from our day-to-day lives, but he will remain in our hearts forever.

Paul was born Dec. 21, 1932 in Woodbine. Paul and James walked to Ben Franklin Elementary School and went home everyday for lunch, usually a bowl of beans and cornbread which was always a favorite meal for Paul.

Growing up in and around Gainesville, Paul and his brother James picked cotton and hauled hay. He played football for the mighty leopards back when they wore leather helmets at Leeper Stadium.

After meeting Donna Jean Martin at the Gainesville Skating Rink, she proposed to him and his reply was, “Not if she was the last woman on earth.” Apparently she was because he married her Jan. 6, 1951 in Gainesville.

They set up housekeeping at a duplex in the 700 block of North Grand Ave and walked to work on California Street. Paul worked at a gas station and Donna worked at a local drug store. Then Paul went to work for Lane Wells Oil Company out of Houston and the family moved from Texas to Louisiana to Mississippi and back to Texas.

In the mid 60s, the family moved back to Gainesville to finish raising their children close to family. Paul went to work for Weber Aircraft, where he made many friends. He retired from Weber in 1994.

Paul enjoyed his family, his horses and trail rides, his John Deere tractor, square dancing, bingo, camping and playing canasta. Mr. Fix-it would have been an appropriate nickname for him because he could fix anything that needed repaired from cars to appliances to his favorite the TV.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Vicki Boaz of Myra; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Robert Herman of Gainesville and daughter and son-in-law, Paula and George Garner of Gainesville. He was loved by all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Candy Kittrell and sons LJ and Josh Kittrell; Misti and Scott Vogel and daughters Victoria, Kourtney and Philicia; JoAnna Boaz and daughter Jacey; Kelli Ford and daughters Kalee, Kaitlin and Kaci; Dena and Chance Pearson and children Audrey Miller, Molly Miller and Nate Pearson; Amanda and Jeremy Arrington and sons Steven Raney, Hunter, Hayden and Hudson; Patrick Amoroso and Amber Little and children Braeden Howard and Raelyn Amoroso and Steven Boaz and daughter Kaydence, and Tyler Boaz.

He is also survived by brothers, James Adrian Boaz and family of Dye Community and Larry Herbert Insel and family of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a sister, Vicky Lynn (Boaz) Camp of Oklahoma; his mother-in-law, Jaci Bilderback of Gainesville and his sister-in-laws Jolayne Martin of Boerne and Nancy Winn of Garland.

He was preceded in death by his father Adrian Thomas Boaz (1951), his mother Lucille (Strickland) Boaz Insel(1995) and his grandparents William Dudley Boaz(1953) and Lucy Jane (Mathews) Boaz(1951).

Family visitation will take place at the Geo J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009. On Monday, Sept.28, 2009, Reverend Bill Black will deliver graveside services at Reed Cemetery at 3 p.m.

Honorary pall bearers will be his grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Grand Avenue Baptist Church or the Myra Baptist Church.



HELEN V. SCRIVENER

MARIETTA, Okla. — Funeral services for Helen V. Scrivener, 56, of Marietta, Okla. are set for 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta, Okla.

Burial will follow in the Lakeview Cemetery of Marietta, Okla.

Survivors include her husband, John C. Scrivener of the home in Marietta, Okla.

A viewing will be held Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.



MARTHA MCKINNEY

MUENSTER – Funeral services for Martha McKinney, 87, of Muenster are set for 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Muenster. Fr. Ken Robinson will officiate.

Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Muenster. Services are under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home in Muenster.

Mrs. McKinney died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 at Muenster Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include her siblings, Gertrude Voth, Agnes McCallion, Adeline Pettit, Rita Becker and Norbert Rohmer.

Rosary/Vigil is set for 5 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at the funeral home.
