MARY ELLEN LEONARD TURBEVILLE

Memorial services for Mary Ellen Leonard Turbeville, 78, of Gainesville are set for 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville with Rev. John Hare officiating.

Mary Ellen passed away on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009 at Renaissance Care Center.

Mary Ellen was born in Wilson, Okla. to Eddie and Nell (Morris) Leonard. She attended Gainesville schools and graduated from Gainesville High School. She attended Gainesville Jr. College.

She married Ben E. Turbeville on July 17, 1949. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She worked in the medical field and later worked in the field of education. She was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church, was a hospital auxiliary volunteer, and enjoyed playing Bridge and Bunco with family and friends. Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises.

Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Ben E. Turbeville; daughter, Deb Turbeville of Denton; son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Mary Turbeville of Gainesville and sisters, Alice Marie Pittman of New Orleans and June Sherrill of Gainesville. She is also survived by grandchildren, Leslee, Teri, Gina, Justin, Megan, and Benjamin and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Pat Leonard; daughter, Julie Turbeville Eberhart and great-grandchild, Julie Thurman.

No visitation is planned.





AARON CURT HENDERSON

Funeral services for Aaron Curt Hendserson, 30, of Gainesville are set for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at First Baptist Church of Gainesville with Dr. Mark Denison officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Curt Henderson passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at his residence.

Curt was a 1997 graduate of Gainesville High and played football at Howard Payne one year. He also attended UNT. Curt had just moved back to Gainesville where he opened his New York Life Office. In the short year he was with the company, he had achieved numerous awards and had made Executive Council with the company. He was a football official for eleven years calling high school games. He officiated college games for three years. Curt also loved basketball officiating and pee wee football. Curt was a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Curt is survived by parents, Pam and Charley Henderson of Gainesville; brothers, Chris Henderson of Lewisville and Chad Henderson of Gainesville; sister, Courtney Henderson of Denton; sister-in-law, Jennifer Henderson of Lewisville; nephew, Caden Henderson; step-niece, Addison Munoz; maternal grandmother, Bobie Cantrell of Gainesville; paternal grandmother, Jean Henderson of Gainesville; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins, including Uncle Brent Cantrell and family, Trudy, Danielle, Tyler, Dakota and Baily of Pilot Point.

Curt was preceded in death by Grandfather Jimmy Cantrell and Milton Henderson.

Memorials in Curt's name can be made to First Baptist Church in Gainesville.

Pallbearers will be Chris Henderson, Chad Henderson, Brent Cantrell, Shannon Cain, Ken Gilbreath, and Mike Rosenberg. Honorary Pallbearers will be Stacey Hardin, David Burch, Jimmy Evans, John Win, and Marvin Royal.

Family will receive friends at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. this evening, Nov. 2, 2009.

DOROTHY ELIZABETH WINGERT BOHLS

Funeral services for Dorothy Elizabeth Wingert Bohls, 95, of Gainesville are set for 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Dorothy died at home on Oct. 25, 2009 with family at her side.

Born in Gainesville on Jan. 6, 1914 to Wilhelm Gottlieb and Sarah Margaret (Delap) Wingert, she was the youngest of five children. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church and was one of the first babies baptized in the current building. She was a member of the Gainesville High School graduating class of 1931.

She met her future husband Clyde Bohls while working at the Kress store in Gainesville, where he was the manager. They were married on July 19, 1936. In 1939, they moved to Waco where Clyde would manage the Kress store and a year later their only daughter Linda Bohls was born. In 1941 they returned to Gainesville and established the business that would become Bohls Furniture. When the new building opened on California Street in 1959, Dorothy ran the Maple Shop upstairs and later the Green Stamp Store. Dorothy was a president of the Business and Professional Women's club in the 1930s, a founding and active member of Gainesville Garden Study Club and involved with her daughter's activities in Girl Scouts and PTA. She received an honorary life-time membership in the Presbyterian Women Association. She also enjoyed flower arranging, painting and crafts, entertaining and was well known for her whistling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Bohls and daughter Linda Bohls Newman.

She leaves behind her son-in-law, Ned Newman and wife Tommie Kirksmith-Newman; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jennifer and Donald Pitts; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Greg and Connie Newman; great-grandchildren, Rebecca Newman, Zoe Pitts and her “birthday twin” Jacob Newman, plus numerous nieces and nephews and loving friends.

Pallbearers will be Ned Newman, Greg Newman, Jacob Newman, Donald Pitts, Mike Goss and Dean Read.

Honorary pallbearers will be Cad Wingert, Richard Wingert, Steve Goss and Brett Wingert.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m.Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009.
