CLARA PEARL FORTENBERRY

Funeral services for Clara Pearl Fortenberry, 89, of Gainesville are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, with Rev. Don Yeager officiating.

Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home

Mrs. Fortenberry died on Saturday Nov. 14, 2009 at the Renaissance Care Center.

Pearl was born in Slidell on July 11, 1920. She was the sixth of 10 children of Robert and Virtie Cogburn. She married W. W. (Budd) Stinnett in 1941. They had three children, Wilson, Richard and Sharon. Pearl married Ross Fortenberry in 1974. Pearl loved God, her family and her friends. She will be dearly missed by all.

She is survived by son, Wilson and Stella Stinnett of Gainesville; her daughter, Sharon Stinnett of Lewisville; daughter-in-law, Bobbie Stinnett Guillot of Texarkana; grandchildren, Pam Hoedebeck, Ron Stinnett, Barbie Stinnett and Zach Stinnett and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Budd in 1969; her husband, Ross Fortenberry in 1993 and her son, Richard Stinnett in 2001.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Pearl Fortenberry to the American Diabetes Assoc.

Visitation was from 7-8 p.m. Monday evening, Nov. 16, 2009 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.





LORETA NOWLIN BOWDEN

SHERMAN – Funeral Services for Loreta Nowlin Bowden, 81, of Sherman will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Dr. Mike Lawson officiating.

Interment will follow in Dixie Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.

Loreta passed away on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2009 at her residence in Sherman.

Survivors include a sister, Ruby Summers of Melissa and a step-son, Billy Wayne Nowlin of Mansfield.

Visitation will be held from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at the funeral home.

FRANK BEYER

LINDSAY — Funeral Mass for Frank Beyer, 84, of Lindsay are set for Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church in the Centennial Hall at Lindsay with Fr. Raymond McDaniel celebrant.

Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Beyer passed away on November 14, 2009.

Frank was born on May 26, 1925 in Gainesville to Adam and Mary Loerwald Beyer. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and worked his entire adult life upon retiring from AMPI in Muenster.

Frank is survived by his wife, Bernice Grewing Beyer; sons, Glen and Ricky Beyer; daughters, Sharon Covington, Judy Secrest, Debbie Sandmann and Janell Shannon; grandchildren, Shawna, Christi, Jennifer, Michelle, April, Bryan, Amy, Cody, Josh, Shelby, Emily, Jeff and Molly and great-grandchildren, Caleb, Payton, Brentney, Aalayah, Trinity, Mary, Dayne, Ebby and Davin.

Pallbearers will be grandchildren.

A rosary with visitation to follow will be held on at 7 p.m. this evening, Nov. 17, 2009 in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Chapel.

MARIE ANNE PITT

SAN ANTONIO — Funeral services for Marie Anne Pitt, 89, of San Antonio are set for 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at Porter Loring North Chapel.

Services are under the direction of Porter Loring Mortuary North in San Antonio.

Marie Anne Pitt died Nov. 14, 2009 at The Forum at Lincoln Heights.

Anne was born on Nov. 17, 1919 in Terre Haute, Ind. to John and Anna (Barnes) Weisent. On Oct. 5, 1940 she married M.E. “Doc” Austin. Mr. Austin died in 1970. In 1975 she married Dr. Henry “Hank” Pitt. Dr. Pitt died in 1976.

Anne grew up in Indiana, moving to Texas to attend Texas State College for Women in Denton where she received a degree in Business Administration. While attending TSCW she met Doc Austin a cadet at Texas A&M.; Following graduation they married before he began his four-year term in the Army during World War II. Following his discharge, Doc, a petroleum engineer, was employed by Sun Oil Company. His employment took them to several Texas towns before he was transferred to Mt. Pleasant, Mich. where they lived until 1958 when he was transferred to Calgary, Alberta, Canada. In 1970 he was transferred to Dallas. With each new domicile, Anne was quick to make a house a home and embed herself in the activities and organizations of the community. In addition to her church, she was a member of numerous organizations supporting the alumni groups of TWU and Texas A&M; and various related scholarship programs, always generous with her time, talents and resources.

After leaving Dallas in 1970 following the death of Mr. Austin, and before moving to San Antonio in 1993 she lived in Bridgeport, Pittsburg, Gainesville, and Rochester, Minn. Always seeking an intellectual challenge, Anne returned to her study of business administration, earning an MBA from her alma mater, Texas Woman’s University. Her leisure time was filled with many hobbies. She was an avid reader, golfer, bridge player and world traveler. She found pleasure in music of all types, had a wonderful singing voice and loved to dance. Her interests included an enjoyment of visual art and performing art, particularly theater. Always a sports fan, as her health began to limit her mobility, she focused on the San Antonio Spurs, rarely missing a televised game.

Anne Pitt is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Anne and James Fairbanks of Shelton, Neb.; granddaughter, Dr. Stacy Lynn Fairbanks and her husband, Owen Brown of Portland, Ore.; grandson, Alan Austin Fairbanks of Long Beach Calif. and sister, Lois Queen of Houston.

In addition to Mr. Austin and Dr. Pitt, Anne was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

O. BARR MCKEE, JR.

COLLINSVILLE — Funeral services for O. Barr McKee, Jr., 64, of Collinsville will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Collinsville with Rev. Jerry Davis officiating.

Interment will follow in Collinsville Cemetery with military honors. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Brenda McKee; two sons, Benny McKee of Collinsville and Tad McKee of Little Elm and sisters, June Jones of Sunset and Dotty Hale of Little Elm.
