CHARLES RAY LYNCH

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS – Funeral services for Charles Ray Lynch, 70, of North Richland Hills will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Michael McCorkle officiating.

Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home.

Charles passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth.

He was born on July 28, 1939 in Houston to Ray and Lillian (Salling) Lynch. He graduated from Whitesboro High School and obtained his Bachelor’s Degree from Texas Christian University. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in the band. He enjoyed a career as a band director, teaching in Gainesville, Little Elm and then retiring from Wills Point ISD. He was passionate about TCU football.

Survivors include a sister, Carolyn Bell of Bedford; two nieces, Susan Wade of Colleyville and Sharon Montelongo and husband, Thomas of North Richland Hills; a great-niece, Leslie Wade; an aunt and uncle, Wanda and Paul Briley of Sherman and several cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Landon Bell.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

JOHN HARVEY REED

SANGER — A memorial service for John Harvey Reed will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at Denton Bible Church. Jim Hill and Tom Nelson will officiate. Following the service will be a reception with the family. A private family viewing and burial will be preceding the memorial service. Arrangements are under the direction of Coker Funeral Home in Sanger.

John Harvey Reed, dearly loved husband and father, passed away the afternoon of Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 after collapsing during a routine jog around his neighborhood.

John was born Oct. 18, 1950 in Dallas and was a long-time resident of Sanger. He worked as an Oral Surgeon at his own practice, Denton Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Associates.

John was a member of AAOMS, Denton County Dental Society, ADA, TDA, North Texas Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and SWSOMS and Denton Bible Church.

He is survived by his wife, Diane Reed; his son, Johnny Reed and wife Pattie of Lewisville; his son, Justin Reed of Plano; his step-daughter, Amanda Thomas and husband James of Oklahoma; his step-son, Matthew LaFon of College Station; his brother, Joe Reed and wife Bunni of Pottsboro; his sister, Sally Kingdom and husband Lew of Colorado; his brother, Wes Reed and wife Suzette of Dallas; his mother-in-law, Vera Mae Miller of McGregor; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Herman and Cecelia Sandoval of New Mexico and his uncle, Martin Luther Wagner of Sherman.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy Miller Reed; his father, Joe Young Reed; his mother, Kathryn Wagner Reed and his younger sister, Christina Reed.

Pallbearers will be Randy Axtol, Church Carpenter, Jesse Jenkins, Matthew Jones, Gaylan Howell, and Carl Miller.

KENNETH ROBERT GARRETT

WHITESBORO – Funeral services for Kenneth Robert Garrett, 63, of Whitesboro will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009 at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro with Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Little Elm Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro.

Kenneth passed away on Nov. 28, 2009 at North Texas Medical Center in Gainesville.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Garrett of Whitesboro; son, Scott Garrett of Lake Mary, Fla; step-son, Sean Cameron of Grant City, Mo; sisters, Gerry Wilder of Temple, Nancy Hudson, Beth Ohauf, Laura Sisk of New Jersey and Karen Rogers of Arizona.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. this evening, Dec. 4, 2009 at the funeral home.

OLENA JONES

Graveside services for Olena Jones, 87, of Gainesville are set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 at Fairview Cemetery with a memorial service to follow at Harvey Baptist Church with Mr. Jack Crockett and Rev. Jordon Johnson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Clement-Keel Funeral Home.

Mrs. Jones died Dec. 2, 2009 at the Renaissance Care Center in Gainesville.

She was born April 10, 1922 in Durant, Okla. to George and Essie (Shoemake) Davis.

On Feb. 15, 1944, she married Robert Lee Jones in Marietta, Okla.

She was a member of Harvey Street Baptist Church, a homemaker and loved to piece quilts and crochet. She worked at Linda Jo’s Shoe Factory for several years and at Wal-Mart in Gainesville. She enjoyed playing dominoes with her friends.

Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Janet and Joe Westbrook of Gainesville, seven grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. and son-in-law Glen Price of Whitesboro.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughters Linda Price and June Price, brothers R.E. Davis and Cordis Davis, sisters Billie Dobbs and Juanita Murphy, granddaughter Sandra Westbrook and great-grandchildren Aaron Westbrook and June Price.

Visitation is planned for 7 to 8 p.m., this evening, Dec. 4, 2009 at the Clement-Keel home.





ROBERT HARRISON MARTINDALE

LAKE KIOWA — Funeral services for Robert Harrison Martindale, 73, of Lake Kiowa, are set for 2 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at the Hillcrest Church of Christ with David Gray officiating.

Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. No visitation is planned.

Mr. Martindale passed away on Dec. 2, 2009 at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He was born in Valley View, Texas on January 19, 1936 to Cletis Danel and Claudia Chisam Martindale. He was the oldest of nine children. On Jan. 25, 1957 he married Mary Lou Palmer in Forth Worth.

He was a graduate of Valley View High School and attended Texas Tech University. In 1963 he opened Martindale Feed Mill in Valley View, which he owned and operated until 1988. In 1986 he purchased North Texas Bank & Trust. He served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer until 1996 when he sold the financial institution to First State Bank, at which time it became the first branch of FSB. He continued his banking career serving as Sr. Vice President for First State Bank, as well as a Director. When First State Bank opened its second branch at Lake Kiowa in 1998 he became the Branch President and stayed at that location until his retirement in December of 2001. He has continued to serve on the Board of Directors of the bank.

Mr. Martindale has also served on the Board of Directors of the Gainesville Memorial Hospital, now known as North Texas Medical Center and on the board of the North Texas Economic Foundation. He was a member of the Lake Kiowa Men’s Golf Association and past President of the Cooke County Men’s Golf Association. He is a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing his mandolin and listening to and writing bluegrass music. He also enjoyed traveling with family and friends in his motor home.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mary Martindale of Lake Kiowa, daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Ryan Norwood of Valley View, son and daughter-in-law Danny and Shirlee Martindale of Gainesville. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chad Martindale and wife Syndi, Cody Martindale and wife Kristin, Jacob and Lyuda Norwood and Quay DePriest; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Rhyder Martindale; brothers, Dr. Billy Martindale of Denison and Larry and Max Martindale of Valley View; sisters, Gynelle Lemons of Lake Kiowa, Glenda Spears of Gainesville, Sandra Kyle of Lake Kiowa, Dianne Haley of Frisco and Rita Cowling of Valley View and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers are Ben Hatcher, Matt Threadgill, Mark Kuntz, Danny Akin, Doug Lillard and Joe Pembroke.
